Diligent and calm people often spend leisure time collecting large and complex puzzles. As well as children who develop fine motor skills and logic. And so, when all the details are installed in their place, the logical question arises as to what to do with the assembled picture. Disassemble and put back into the box? Or leave as a picture? And then how to glue the puzzles so that they do not fall apart? There are several ways to make your dream come true.
How to glue puzzles with glue?
Now in art stores you can find such a tool as the adhesive base for mosaics, and puzzles too. It can be either PVA type glue or transparent glue film. The latter is advisable to use only for pictures of a small size, since there is a risk that they will turn out with air bubbles or jams. It is very difficult to apply the film over a large area. In total, there are two main ways to glue puzzles.
Option number 1: flip the picture
It is very important on what the cardboard mosaic was originally assembled. If it is, for example, a sheet of fiberboard or chipboard, a rug for puzzles or cardboard, then it will not be difficult to turn over the finished picture. To do this, just put another similar sheet on top of the mosaic, press firmly, and then turn it over. If the picture is very large, then you can additionally fasten the substrate with paper clips or tape. After that, glue should be applied to the inside of the puzzle and allowed to dry completely, as indicated in the instructions. Those who have not purchased the adhesive may need the same adhesive tape. The stripes are laid in width (so it will be denser), and overlap. So the picture will last longer. It doesn’t matter at all whether air bubbles under the adhesive tape will turn out or not. From the inside, this is still not visible, but you should not neglect accuracy.
Option number 2: without a coup
If the puzzles were assembled on the floor, and the size just does not allow you to quickly flip the finished picture, then you can fasten everything without any flips. For this, first of all, you need to slip polyethylene under the future picture. For example, it could be a ragged bag. What is it for? In order not to spoil the flooring with glue. Even the biggest picture is not so difficult to drag slowly onto polyethylene, neatly, centimeter by centimeter. After that, you can use various means for fastening the puzzle. For example, liquid diluted PVA glue. Or all the same transparent tape. For drawing it is more expedient to use a wide and flat brush. If you stick transparent tape, then you need to do this very carefully so that there are no bubbles with air, no hitches, or folds. On top of the glue, it will not be superfluous to also apply a layer of varnish without color. This will give a gloss to the picture and even more tightly connect the elements.
Mixed version, universal way
Often used and universal bonding. Here several technologies are applied at once. For example, before gluing puzzles with adhesive tape on the front side, the fabric is glued to the wrong side. Due to him, the picture is more confident. But this method requires a double flip of the finished mosaic. The fabric can be made of any material: cotton, linen, cotton blend. It is advisable to give preference to natural fabrics, since they are the easiest to adhere.
Another universal option is a mix of glue and adhesive tape, which are mounted on one side. For example, facial. Before gluing the assembled puzzles, you need to remove all debris, dust and dirt. To do this, you need a fan brush or a simple thick brush. Apply diluted PVA liquid glue, let it dry for 2 hours, then stick strips of transparent adhesive tape. On top you can not apply varnish. The picture will therefore be glossy.
Small application tips
Each of the adhesive materials has its own characteristics in operation. So, for example, adhesive tape is recommended to be applied not just across the width of the picture, but also with an allowance. Why? This will provide greater structural strength. The excess can then be carefully cut with a blade or clerical knife. Only sharpened.
Before gluing a picture from puzzles, pay special attention to where it is located. If it’s not too difficult to move the composition onto the fiberboard sheets from the table, it is more problematic to do this from the floor. It is advisable to immediately start collecting puzzles with the calculation of further gluing on a special rug or on a sheet of plywood. In the future, the picture can be inserted into a frame and hung on the wall as a decorative element.
How to glue puzzles of any size? After cleaning the picture of excess debris, crumbs, apply adhesive and insert into the frame. Often such mosaics adorn children's rooms.
