Serbian king Vladislav was the son of the First-Crown Simon and grandson of Stephen Nemani, who, after many years of reign, voluntarily abdicated the throne and tonsured monks. The saint, like his father and grandfather, put a lot of money and effort into the development of Orthodoxy in his state.
Vladislav founded the Serbian monastery-mausoleum of Mileshev, famous for its unique frescoes. Together with Archbishop Arseny, he initiated the writing of the Life of Saint Sava. After the construction of the monastery, the relics of Uncle Vladislav were also transferred here from Tarnovo.
Saint Vladislav participated in the Council more than once, including when Saint Sava transferred to his successor Arseny the duties of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Over the years of the reign of the King of Serbia, the monastery of Mileshev and the monastery of the Virgin on Bystrica received letters and privileges.
The exact date of death of St. Vladislav is unknown. According to some reports, he died between 1264-1281 years. The burial place of the saint is the Ascension Church of the Mileshev Monastery.

Vitaliy Ivanovich Kokorev was born in 1890 in the village of Dyakovo, Tver province. From 1912 to 1928 he was one of the novices, and then a monk of the Nile Desert. Until 1935 he was in a correctional camp in the Far East, where he was exiled for tax evasion. After returning to his native places, he got a job as a watchman in the temple of a neighboring village. In 1937, Vitaly was arrested and shortly afterwards sentenced to death.
On October 7, men’s celebrations in honor of the martyr Vitaly are celebrated on the date of his death. On this day in 1937 he was shot. In August 2004, Vitaly was numbered
among the holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
Holy First Martyr Equal Apostles Thekla
It is known that Thekla was born in Iconium, was the daughter of wealthy people and was distinguished by her extraordinary beauty. At the age of eighteen, the girl was engaged to a noble young man. But shortly before the wedding, Thekla heard the sermon of the Apostle Paul about Jesus Christ, after which she decided to devote her whole life to serving the Lord. The girl refused to marry and became the bride of the Savior.
Because Thekla did not renounce the Christian faith, she was subjected to physical torment more than once. First, the girl’s mother, for disobeying her daughter, demanded death for her from the ruler of the city. They wanted to burn Thekla at the stake, but the flame of fire did not touch her, and soon the rain completely extinguished it. Thanks to this miracle, Thekla left the city and joined the apostle Paul and his companions. Later, the first martyr was tied to two bulls so that they would tear her body to pieces, but strong ropes unexpectedly broke for everyone. Thekla was thrown to be eaten by fierce beasts who only licked her legs. The Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles never renounced their faith in Jesus Christ and preached the gospel all their lives.
After reaching the age of 90, Thekla was again persecuted. At that moment, when her offenders were very close, the mountain in front of them parted and hid the saint. So she betrayed her soul to Jesus Christ.
