Uterine erosion: causes, signs and methods of treatment

Uterine erosion is a pathological change in the mucous membrane that occurs in approximately 50% of women. Moreover, in medicine, in fact, erosion and pseudo-erosion differ. Therefore, doctors initially conduct a full examination to prescribe adequate treatment according to the diagnosis.

Among the main symptoms of erosion are called spotting, mainly after sexual intercourse, as well as pain directly during intercourse. However, such symptoms may not be. The fact is that the place between the vagina and the uterus, that is, the cervix, has virtually no nerve endings. As a rule, erosion is detected directly during a routine examination by a gynecologist.

Uterine erosion, the causes of which are discussed below, as a rule, begins to manifest itself at a more serious stage. That is why experts advise visiting a gynecologist twice a year.

So, the causes of the disease can be as follows:

  1. Changes in hormonal levels.
  2. The presence of genital infections and untimely treatment.
  3. Low level of body protection.
  4. Mechanical damage.

Note that there can be many reasons for the development of the disease. As for hormonal failure, it can occur due to an increase in the level of estradiol and progesterone in the blood, as well as a decrease in the production of estrogen. As a result, loosening of epithelial tissue occurs , and uterine erosion occurs. Chronic vaginal inflammation can also be factors provoking pathology. All viruses and bacteria cause damage to epithelial cells, resulting in an area of inflammation in the cervix.

What is the danger of cervical erosion? In the absence of proper and timely treatment, neoplasms can develop, both benign and malignant. In addition, the disease sometimes develops into a more severe stage, for example, into glandular-cystic erosion. Therefore, preventive examinations should not be neglected.

Among the main methods of treating the disease should be mentioned:

  • radio wave method;
  • laser coagulation;
  • chemical coagulation;
  • cryodestruction;
  • diathermocoagulation;
  • argon plasma coagulation ;
  • diathermoconization;
  • electrocoagulation.

Judging by the results of many studies, uterine erosion is treated as efficiently as possible thanks to laser coagulation. The basic principle of the procedure is that a laser is applied to the site of the lesion. Due to the fact that this method involves the use of high-quality optics, the effect is made only on damaged tissue. Laser coagulation technique allows to treat erosion in nulliparous women due to its "sparing" basis. The fact is that this procedure does not leave scars, because the risk of rupture of the cervix during childbirth is significantly reduced.

In order for the treatment to give the maximum effect, it is necessary to exclude the presence of genital infections. Otherwise, therapy will not bring the expected results.

Earlier, the most common treatment method was cauterization, known since the 18th century, when the procedure was carried out with a device resembling a soldering iron. But uterine erosion in this case is eliminated together with the epithelium, as a result of which a multilayer epithelium is formed at the site of the wound. Moreover, for several weeks you should maintain a sterile state of the cervix so that the wound has the opportunity to heal. At this time, it is strictly forbidden to lift weights and engage in sexual intercourse. If you adhere to absolutely all the recommendations given by the doctor, healing takes place without complications and does not take long
