The first impression that arises with a cursory glance at the VAZ 2116 is a feeling of dullness and boredom.
The design is somewhat reminiscent of a budget Korean mass-produced car, but progress is clearly evident in comparison with the predecessors of the same VAZ. At least, those who appreciate practicality, designers will appreciate this decision, but with the interior, things are somewhat different. It seems that the designers and designers of Lada 2116 have not decided to the end: add a touch of modernity to the interior or make a practical car. However, given the car’s belonging to the budget segment, there are certainly true fans of this model.
When a few years ago there was only information about the release of the Lada 2116 car, the question that, perhaps, most worried the audience, concerned the technical characteristics of the car.
As it turned out, not in vain. The new
Lada 2116 in this regard was able to pleasantly surprise - the car is equipped with 1.6 and 1.8 - liter gasoline engines, which were based on modified power units of previous generations. Moreover, there is the possibility of a complete set and a more promising version of the motor (volume of 2.3 liters). The transmission is available in five- and six-speed gearbox formats. The steering wheel, equipped with an amplifier, makes less than 3 revolutions from lock to lock. In addition to the above, Lada 2116 boasts a rather rich basic configuration, which includes: anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution system, emergency brake booster, airbags,
trip computer, front electric windows,
athermal glass, mounts for a child car seat, adjustment driver's seat and central locking - agree, an impressive set for a car, which by and large refers to the budget segment. As for additional options, the vehicle equipment can be expanded due to heating and electric drive of
mirrors, heating of the front seats, air conditioning,
headlight washers, rain and light sensors, xenon and parking sensors.
As for safety, a series of crash tests of the Lada 2116 car was carried out, photos of the results of which can be easily found on thematic resources. Of the 16 possible points, the sedan scored 13.9, thereby demonstrating a high level of protection not only for the driver and passengers, but also for pedestrians in the event of a collision with the latter. This was made possible by the introduction of soft alloy elements in front of the car. Such test results are generally not typical for the domestic auto industry, so they can undoubtedly be included in the asset for designers.
So, what can Lada 2116 offer for the approximately 12 thousand euros that a new car costs? First of all, the most striking design (does not leave a feeling of similarity with Volkswagen lines of past years). But for the functionality, designers can put solid 4 with a plus, because even in the basic configuration the car looks quite solid. It is difficult to say for sure whether this car is worth the money. This option is entirely compromise, but you have to decide whether you are ready for it.
