Biography
The biography of Laki Kesoglu is closely connected with Batumi, since it was in this city that the future singer was born. His paternal relatives, grandmother Eutihia and grandfather Apostle, were forced to flee the persecution of Turkish authorities by the persecution of the Greek Christians who in the mid-twenties conducted the Turkish authorities.
They moved to the city of Batumi, where in the nineteenth century there were Greek settlements. Greek immigrants, as well as members of their families who did not accept USSR citizenship, could remain there for a long period of time as foreign nationals. They had the right to immigrate to Greece at any time.
According to the current agreements, the Greeks who had Turkish citizenship automatically acquired Greek citizenship if they were the holders of Greek visas provided for then. In 1949, the Greek population of Georgia was forcibly deported to areas of Kazakhstan. The liberated lands were populated by Georgians.
They were mainly also forcibly relocated from their native places. The Laki Kesoglu family was first located in a village called Suli Kesik. There were no conditions for normal living. Later, the family of the future performer moved to the city of Turkestan. This was not an easy post-war time, but the Greeks did not despair. Pesian music often sounded in the Kesoglu family house.
Young Lucky sang a lot already in his childhood and took part in amateur performances. In the period from 1958 to 1962 he was educated at the Shymkent College of Music. The contractor graduated from this educational institution with honors and was sent to the conservatory of Alma-Ata. He studied there from 1962 to 1967.
The performer was trained in classical vocals, like a tenor. Got into the class of Orlenin. He had five opera parts in his repertoire. At the same time, in 1964, Lucky joined the pop-symphony orchestra of the Kazakh radio and television. There he began to perform pop songs. In 1970, he became a diploma student at the IV All-Union Pop Art Competition, which was held in Moscow.
In 1972, the performer first performed on the stage of the Hall of Columns. Thanks to this, he gained all-Union fame. Especially successful was his song "Buzuki". In the film “Old Walls” by V. Tregubovich, which was released in 1973 with tact and feeling, he performed the tango song “Waves”, which became famous in the USSR.
The composer was G. Portnov, the operator of the picture, E. Rozovsky, played the role of a singer on the dance floor of the sanatorium. Kesoglu is a permanent participant in numerous festivals held in Kazakhstan. Over a quarter of a century of collaboration with musicians of the Kazakh State Radio and Radio Orchestra, the musician has made more than 400 records.
