Facing the basement of the house

The base is called the lower facade belt, which protects the structure from pollution and mechanical damage. It should be made of strong, durable materials that provide not only an attractive appearance, but also be reliable protection from moisture.

Facing the basement of the house can be carried out in various ways, however, the first, unchanging stage is its preparation. The base must be smooth, strong, clean. Irregularities greater than 5 mm must be eliminated, the troughs should be filled with a special solution. Experts recommend impregnating the surface with a primer mixture.

To reduce water absorption, special compositions are used - water repellents. These colorless solutions are applied by roller or brush.

Tiling of the plinth

Clinker

Such tiles visually look like clinker bricks, while differing in weight. In addition, its thickness starts from 8 mm. Other dimensions of the tile are approximately similar to the dimensions of the brick (length from 21 to 29 cm, width - from 5 to 7.1 cm).

Work begins with determining the level from which the installation of the first row begins. To do this, the height of the socle is divided by the width of the tile, increased by the width of the inter-tile seam. So, with a height of 40 cm, a material width of 6.5 cm and 6 mm seams, you will need to set (40: (6.5 + 0.6) = 5.63) six rows. It is necessary to start 2.6 cm lower than the planning ground level (6 x (6.5 + 0.6) = 42.6).

A gap of approximately 0.6 cm is formed above the upper (last) row of tiles. It should be filled with a polyurethane or acrylic mixture.

Facing the basement of the house is carried out using an elastic frost-resistant adhesive solution. It is applied to both the material and the base. Thus, absolutely tight gluing of the tile is ensured.

The solution is prepared on an area that can be pasted over in ten to thirty minutes. As a rule, this is of the order of a square meter. After half an hour, the solution usually begins to harden and lose its adhesive properties.

After two to three days, the joints are filled with a frost-resistant and elastic solution. Clinker tiles almost do not absorb moisture, which eliminates the pretreatment of the material with water repellents.

A rock

Finishing the basement of the house with this material is a little more expensive. Along with this, the appearance of the facade is quite spectacular.

Typically, limestone or sandstone is used. However, there is also facing the basement of the house with granite or marble.

The size of the items can be completely different. So, it can be small parts or massive stone slabs, the width of which is equal to the height of the base. The texture of the material is also different. There is stone tile with a smooth surface, there is a rough one, it happens with granular and rubble.

The installation technology is similar to the method described above. For bonding, a special adhesive composition should be used. The use of any unsuitable solution may lead to cracking, peeling of the material.

If the base protrudes from the wall, it should be protected. For this, a cornice is installed. Otherwise, in cold weather, the lining of the basement of the house may crumble.

Sandy material

This tile has gained its distribution relatively recently. It is a composite material that imitates a "torn stone" or brickwork. The polymer sand tile is lightweight. This allows you to use it on any, the most lightweight designs.

The material is also plastic and does not give any chips or cracks. Polymer sand tiles are moisture resistant, tolerates thaw well and can be used in absolutely different climatic conditions.

The material is fixed with screws to a pre-installed crate (it is possible to apply additional insulation) or directly to the base.
