It has long been no secret that the Korean pop industry is rich in various interesting projects. This is especially true for boy bands. All members of such groups not only look great, but also know how to sing without "plywood" and dance unmatched. Which is respected even by people who are very far from k-pop. One of the groups that deserves the attention of both old-timers and those who are only acquainted with Korean music is Infinite, which means “Infinite” in English. "And what is so interesting about them? Another pretty face!" - you can say. But ... Just listen to a couple of songs, watch the video, and you are unlikely to remain indifferent.
How it all began
The official debut date is June 9, 2010. It was on this day that the single First Invasion was released, including 6 songs along with an intro, and the guys performed on the music program M! Countdown But long before that, as is usually the case with all the spin-up groups in Korea, the audience is “prepared”: a bright interesting show is released, where audiences represent emerging artists. Under Infinite (group) they created the project “You are my oppa”, on which all seven guys appeared. Of course, the audience drew attention to the charming and sociable guys. In addition, they performed two songs from their debut album: She's back and Come back again. In addition to vocals, everyone was impressed by the amazing synchronization of movements, which not all artists can boast of, and the interesting choreography of the numbers.
The boy band began the active promotion of his mini-album. Immediately after the debut, a fan club was opened, called Inspirit ("Inspiration" - "Inspirers").
Already at the end of December, just six months after the debut, Infinite (the Korean group) released the second single, which also included 6 tracks. The album also confidently took the first lines in the charts and was instantly sold out by fans.
Popularity growth. First awards
In early January 2011, Infinity released their debut single, Before the Down, and filmed clips on three main tracks. Album promotion starts on the show M! Countdown, already familiar to the guys since the debut of Infinite. The band performed the song Come back again.
The guys don’t know they’re tired, and after a couple of months (in March) there is another mini-album, already with the name pleasing to the fans, - Inspirit. They shot a video for the song Nothing's over and continued their promotion. It would seem that it's time to take a short time out, but instead of a well-deserved respite and rest, the guys continue to work hard. And in July they release their first full album, Over the top. In addition to songs performed by the whole group, it included solo numbers of some participants. The title song Be mine confidently took the first positions in the charts and brought the first award to the boy band for the same M! Countdown. A week later, the same track received a second victory in a row on the same show.
The group does not lose ground and releases the song Paradise in September, shoots a video for it.
Korea becomes small for the Infinite, boiling with energy, and in November they set off to conquer Japan. The Japanese version of the album Before the down is released.
At Christmas, Korean band Infinite gives a surprise to their fans - a new song, Lately. White confession. A new show begins with the band members - “Birth of a family”.
We only dream of peace: active 2012
The new 2012 brought the team the first big concert. In February, the first performance was held in front of a multi-thousand audience in the famous Olympic Park in Seoul with the Second invasion program. In addition to concert activities, members of the group act in dramas and participate in the musical. But Japanese fans are not forgotten: in April, the second Japanese-language mini-album Be mine is released.
At the end of May, the boy band is releasing another mini-album with the straightforward title Infinitize. On the title track, the guys shoot a clip, easily occupy the top positions of the music charts and get another, third in a row, victory on the M show! Countdown After the end of the promotion, a mini-album oriented to Japan comes out - She's back. It is also very popular.
The life of the guys is painted literally by the minute. In addition, shooting in the new show "King of the Rating", taking place from May to October, is added.
In addition to the collective activity, some guys have individual projects: Men Soo (“Shut up and play”) and Woo Hyun (“The Thousand Man”) appear in dramas. In November, band leader Song Gyu released another solo album, Just Me, written in just three weeks. Despite such a short time, the single received many positive reviews.
2013-2014: becoming more interesting and more interesting
The new 2013 year presented a pleasant surprise to the fans: they debuted, creating their own team, two Infinite members - Khoya and Don U. The new project was called Infinite HH. The direction of activity is hip-hop. The duo enjoyed the trial performances in the general concert program, as a result of which it was decided to create a subgroup. Back in December 2012, a photo shoot was held, and pictures of the future boy band appeared in the magazines. The subgroup performed for the first time on stage M! Countdown The day after the broadcast, the single High Fly was released.
After the end of the promotion, Infinite will release their fourth mini-album New challenge, the title track from which - Man in love - confidently leads the charts. And, of course, the group performed in full on M! Countdown
In July, the guys released another Destiny mini-album and shot a video for the song of the same name. The album’s advancement time was reduced due to preparations for the World One (!) World Tour One great step. Guys visited 16 countries and 40 cities.
And again, a surprise awaited the fans - the lead vocalist of the boy band U Hyun debuted. Together with a friend from SHINee, they create the duet ToHeart and release a mini album with the same name.
In late May 2014, the Korean band Infinite returned to the stage and released their second full-fledged album Season 2. In addition to collective songs, the album also included tracks from solo artists and subgroups. A composition was also sounded from the yet not officially debuted new subgroup - Infinite F.
In late July, the album was reissued, it included two more tracks, including Be back.
In addition to concert activities, the guys continue to act in dramas.
In early December, Korea released the documentary Grow about the activities of the boy band and their first world tour. In January, the picture appears in the Japanese box office. It is not yet available for Russian-speaking fans (although it can be found on the Web, but only in very poor quality).
At the end of December, the Infinite F subgroup officially debuts. Interestingly, the first performance was first held in Japan, and only then in Korea.
Despite all the debuts of the subgroups and solo projects, it is pleasantly pleasing that the basic composition of the Korean band Infinite does not change.
Group activities in 2015
January also begins fruitfully: the guys release a single for the Japanese audience Dilemma and go on a tour of the Land of the Rising Sun.
In May, the second mini-album, Song Gyu, was released, and in summer the group released the minicom Reality. After its release, the guys go on their second world tour Infinite effect. It started on August 8-9 in Seoul.
The guys performed in China, Taiwan, Poland, France, England, Germany, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia. The tour will end with a concert on November 21 in Shanghai (China).
