What Oil is Pouring Into an Engine

Every year the number of cars on the road is growing and now it is no longer a luxury item, since almost every family has it. In order for it to serve you for a long time, careful care is needed. Equally important is the choice of oil for pouring into the engine of your machine. Why do I need oil, what kind of oil is to be poured into the engine? Oil for filling into the engine is necessary to perform a number of functions:

  1. when the engine and the mechanisms of the vehicle are heated, the oil cools them;
  2. reduces friction of parts, which leads to improved engine performance and lower fuel consumption;
  3. provides tightness of the engine;
  4. protects vehicle surfaces from corrosion and wear;
  5. prevents the deposition of contaminants and oxidation products on engine parts.

What kind of oil to pour into the engine?

It is best not to save and pour good oil, while giving priority to well-known manufacturers. Thus, you will reduce the wear of parts of your car and extend its service life.

When you buy a new car, especially if you have the first one, then you are faced with the choice of what kind of oil to pour into the engine? First of all, you need to look into the instructions of the car. Usually it indicates which oil is recommended for use in winter and summer, as well as what oil viscosity is recommended for this brand of car. Viscosity and its dependence on ambient temperature is one of the main characteristics of the oil. The viscosity parameter is abbreviated as SAE. If the characteristics of the oil that you start to fill do not comply with the recommendations of the car manufacturer, this may lead to a loss of engine power. Thick oils are best used for engines operating under heavy loads, and oils with reduced viscosity are better used for engines with high revs. If a used car, it is better to check with the previous owner what oil he poured. This is necessary, as changing the oil can harm your car. Mixing different types of oils is not recommended.

Which oil is better?

The following types of oils are distinguished:

- Mineral (oil). Mineral oil has the best lubricating properties. It is often used on the first fill. The fluidity of mineral oil is not stable. By its properties, it is worse than synthetic and semi-synthetic. A positive point in relation to semi-synthetic is that it decomposes better and there is no need for its disposal with the help of harmful chemicals.

- Synthetic. This type of oil has more stable properties: thermal and chemical. It is less susceptible to any external influences; it has a longer service life. However, it is expensive and it has a large consumption of waste.

- Semi-synthetic. This type of oil is inferior to synthetic in its properties, but it is good in relation to it at a price, that is, it is cheaper. It has a good set of properties, but it has less extreme frost resistance. It is recommended to fill it in cars with high mileage if the fumes of synthetic oil increase.

Oils should have detergent, antiwear, dispersant, anticorrosive, demulsifying, and protective properties, low volatility, high thermal oxidative and thermal stability.

Manufacturers of the chemical industry produce oils that are designed for diesel, gasoline engines and universal. Universal oils are not a bad choice, but still it is better to use the oil recommended by the manufacturer of the car, which is designed specifically for your engine type.

When you choose which oil to pour into the engine, it is necessary to take into account the technical condition of the car, the type of engine, the compatibility of the selected oil with the engine, fuel quality, and operating conditions.
