The Yaroslavl Missile School is the basic educational organization for the preparation of the command staff of the air defense forces. The university is the highest officer school, whose graduates continue their careers not only in the army, but also in other power structures of the country.
Story
Anti-aircraft missile school in Yaroslavl was created in October 1951 under the code name "military unit 71543". The old complex of buildings built in 1797, which was originally intended for the military unit with educational cadet corps, was chosen as the location. In 1965, the educational institution was renamed the Radio Engineering School of Air Defense.
A few years later, in 1968, the institution received the name "Yaroslavl Anti-aircraft Missile Defense School". In 1970, the status of the institution rose to the level of a higher school, where studies lasted 4 years. A five-year education appeared in 1993, and in 1997 an adjucture was opened with the aim of training pedagogical and scientific personnel.
In 1998, the school transferred to the status of an institute, and in 2005, the status of the institution again changed to the existing one - the Yaroslavl Higher Anti-Aircraft Missile School of Air Defense (military institute). In 2010, there was a reform of educational institutions that trained specialists for the army, many were closed. And the Yaroslavl missile school did not recruit students. YaVZRU air defense continued to train specialists and was expanded in 2012, and the buildings of the Military Financial Economic Institute were transferred to the school.
Until 2011, the missile school in Yaroslavl was replenished twice by students of disbanded universities - in 2009, cadets from an aviation school from Tambov arrived to continue their studies in the specialty, and in 2011 the cadets from the military school of radio electronics of St. Petersburg replenished the student environment. In 2012, the YaVZRU air defense fell under the wing of the Mozhaisk Military Space Academy in the status of a branch, the admission of cadets resumed.
Description
At the present stage, the Yaroslavl Military Missile School is the basic educational institution that provides training for ACS specialists and personnel officers for the Russian missile and radio technical troops . The training base includes nine faculties and fifteen departments, the main task of which is the training and education of the next generation of military, methodological developments, improving the material and educational base of the institution.
Most of the teaching staff has academic degrees and titles. The head of the missile school in Yaroslavl is Major General A. A. Ilinykh. The quality of theoretical knowledge is guaranteed not only by the training of teachers, but by an extensive library with rich funds, some publications date from the 12th-13th centuries.
To maintain and improve physical fitness in his spare time, the sports complex, equipped with two stadiums, halls with modern exercise machines, equipment, is called upon. Students can engage in sports sections with different directions. Combined arms training is carried out on the territory of the Ascension training center, which is located 60 kilometers from the city. At the center, cadets master the art of shooting, fighting, overcoming obstacles, and using protective equipment.
The Yaroslavl Missile School teaches not only the theoretical part, but also devotes a large amount of training hours to firing practice. To develop skills and knowledge, cadets conduct live firing with the use of modern anti-aircraft missile systems, and study coordinated interaction with radio-technical forces.

The missile school in Yaroslavl prepares air defense specialists in the following areas:

Education system
Cadets study for free with full state allowance. Preparation is carried out in stages. Junior students master the practical skills of using weapons and equipment at the level of a soldier and sergeant. Senior courses are devoted to the study of practice and theoretical training at the level of chief of calculation and department.
The last stage of study is devoted to the application of the acquired knowledge to the independent operation of air defense systems, missile systems, and radio systems. Practical exercises and the acquisition of skills are carried out at the training ground during military exercises, which include live shooting, the use of airborne forces to engage training targets designed to imitate an enemy attack.
How to proceed
In the rocket school in Yaroslavl, male and female candidates are selected according to the requirements:
- Only citizens of the Russian Federation are accepted.
- Mandatory full secondary or vocational education.
- The age of candidates who do not have military training - from 18 to 22 years old, who have served in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are accepted until they reach 24 years of age.
- Contracted military personnel (excluding officers) under the age of 27 are considered as candidates.
Documents are not accepted from persons with offenses, open trials, criminal cases, serving sentences, etc.

The level of education is determined by the results of the exam, the minimum number of points:
- Mathematics - 27 points.
- Russian language and physics - not less than 36 points.
Entrance tests
All candidates undergo physical training tests, men perform the following exercises:
- Pulling on the crossbar, the minimum indicator is 4 times (26 points).
- Running 100 meters, the minimum indicator is 15.4 seconds (26 points).
- Running at 3000 meters, the minimum figure is 14.56 seconds (26 points).
Exercises and minimum scores for women:
- Torso from the supine position, the minimum indicator is 18 times (26 points).
- Running 100 meters, the minimum indicator is 19.6 seconds (26 points).
- Running at 3000 meters, the minimum figure is 5.20 seconds (26 points).
The level of training is estimated by the sum of three tests on a 100-point scale, as indicated by the relevant ministry and implements the Yaroslavl missile school. The passing score according to the results of physical training tests is a total of 120 units, which is 25 points for a 100-point one.
Assessment of the level of education is determined by the results of the exam, tests are conducted for certain categories of candidates:
- For those who did not pass final exams in the form of the Unified State Examination (including for students of foreign universities or for compatriots who have received education abroad).
- Examinations are taken by candidates who have received full secondary vocational education.
According to the results of several past introductory campaigns, the average competition among men is two people per place, and among women the figure is much higher - about 10 candidates for one academic vacancy.
