Luhan, a Chinese singer who became famous for joining one of the most popular second-generation K-pop bands, suddenly sued fans in 2014 against his agency and left the band, focusing on his solo career in China. Our task is to understand why Luhan left EXO. What lies behind all the lawsuits against companies and why do Chinese artists do not want to pursue a career in the Chinese market, but prefer to create their own labels and promote them?
Artist Biography
A little information about Luhan himself. His name would be more correct to write like Lu Han. Born in China. He graduated from high school in Beijing and enrolled in Ense University as an exchange student. Around the same moment, he became a SM Entertainment trainee and debuted in EXO in 2011 and almost immediately became one of the band's most popular members. He received the cute nickname Deer Luhan and simply fell in love with the fans for his slightly childish face.
Despite all these positive aspects of his career at EXO, in 2014 he and another member of a group of Chinese descent, Chris Wu (pictured above) filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment, annul their contracts and leave EXO.
Why Luhan left EXO
For many fans of the group, 2014 was one of the most painful, if not the saddest in history. This year, two participants left the group at once. Many fans wondered: why is Luhan leaving the EXO band? Naturally, everyone turned to SM Entertainment for this question, who, in turn, incredibly carefully tried to avoid a sensitive topic. As a result, as it turned out, the departed participants simply asked the company for an individual schedule. Luhan started having health problems and needed rest and treatment, but SM has his own strict rules regarding vacations. As a result, as a result of severe exhaustion and the inability to get home, Luhan decided to terminate the contract with the company. Many facts became known only some time after the trial, and the artist’s best friend Lao Gao eventually told his version of why Luhan left EXO. The reason was that he could not meet with his parents, who at that time needed his help, because of strict rules.
Further activities
The fact that Luhan made his debut under the wing of a huge company and managed to earn a name for himself helped him break into the Chinese market, establish his own label and, most importantly, achieve an individual schedule.
At the moment, he can boast of many released singles and albums, as well as his good game in films and TV shows of Chinese production.
Now he looks rested, full of energy, and even fans who were saddened by his departure admit that the changes benefited him. The question of why Luhan left EXO no longer arises, fans took the side of the performer. Also, not so long ago, Luhan announced that he was dating actress Guan Xiaotong, and it would have been completely impossible if he had stayed in SM, where there is a ban on relations.
I must admit that the departure of the Chinese participants from EXO was not the first big departure of the performers and not the first scandal that reached the court. So, in 2009-2010, three members of the TVXQ group, Jejun, Yuchon and Junsu, also left SM Entertainment, suing them for inappropriate working conditions in the company.
