Each owner of the printer is trying to find out how to change the cartridge in the printer. It usually happens that after buying a printer, ink runs out very quickly. This happens because when you buy this device, a demo cartridge with a very small resource is inserted into it. Therefore, it is appropriate to ask yourself the question of how to change the cartridge in the printer, pre-filling it with paint. Or is it better to buy a new one?
Replacement or refueling?
No one argues that it is much easier to buy a new cartridge. They took out the old one, threw it out, put in a new one and deal with the end. But it happens that new cartridges are much more expensive than the printers themselves (most often this happens with cheap printers). This is done by manufacturers specifically so that people spend more money on consumables, thereby raising the profits of manufacturing companies. This must be remembered before changing the cartridge in the printer. HP Deskjet (printer), for example, will cost you a lot if you constantly buy new cartridges. HP primarily earns revenue from the sale of ink cartridges.
And we also note that before changing the cartridge or refilling it in the printer, make sure that this is generally possible to do. Of course, replacement is always possible, but refueling is not. It all depends on the type of printer and the cartridge itself.
Replacing an Inkjet Printer Cartridge
Until now, the most common is an inkjet printer, because at a low cost it can print color images.
Printer manufacturers are doing everything possible so that the user knows how to change the cartridge in the printer. There is not even any instruction, everything is done simply: the lid opens, an empty cartridge is taken out, another one is put. That is the whole process. Developers intentionally try to simplify the process of installing new cartridges, so you definitely will not have problems. But this is only if you want to replace the old cartridge with a new one. To do this, you have to buy an expensive cartridge. But there is another option. As you already understood, we are talking about refueling.
Gas station
When people see such printers in a store, they often fall for the trick of a low price, and only then realize that servicing a cheap color printer will be expensive. But knowing how to change the cartridge in the printer after refilling it, you can save money, and a lot.
The very first thing is to buy a good ink for the cartridge. If you decide to save money and choose a bad paint, then the quality of the photos will be poor. Another disadvantage of low-quality ink is its quick drying and lack of printing in some places on paper.
It is noteworthy that cartridge manufacturers never produce paint for them and special refill kits. They want people to buy their refilled cartridges. Therefore, do not try to find original ink that simply does not exist in nature.
So you bought ink. You need a syringe to refuel. Remove the cartridge from the printer, find out its capacity, fill the syringe with ink so that the capacity matches the capacity of the cartridge. There is a hole on the top of the cartridge (it is glued with a sticker) through which air escapes. It has a very small size, but the syringe needle will fit.
You can try to tear off the sticker, but after refueling, be sure to glue it back. A sophisticated air exhaust system is implemented there, and a sticker is part of this system. If you do not stick a sticker, ink will leak through the cartridge nozzle.
There is another refueling option. With the thinnest drill, make a hole in the cartridge, fill it with paint, then carefully fill the hole with plasticine. You can even use regular chewing gum. It will all work, but only if you type a lot. If your paint dries, then cleaning the cartridge will fail.
However, if you print a lot, then you generally do not need to know how to change the cartridge in an HP printer or a model from another manufacturer. Indeed, in this case, it is appropriate to use the CISS, which will save money and time at the gas station.
Replacing and refilling a laser cartridge
As with the inkjet, the laser printer cartridge is also easy to remove: the front (top or back) cover opens, a special latch is pressed and the cartridge itself is taken out. Depending on the model, the cartridge can be pulled out in different ways, but it is always easy to do. In a good way, the used cartridge needs to be thrown out and a new one inserted, but it is best just to refill it.
Precautionary measures
We note right away that refilling laser printer cartridges is difficult and unhealthy. Refueling powder is very fine, and if it gets into the lungs, it will be bad. Therefore, before you change the cartridge with a preliminary refill in the printer, you must take safety measures. First, cover your mouth and nose with a rag or respirator. And although even an army gas mask does not protect against paint, this must be done. So only a small fraction of the dust can enter the lungs. Secondly, you need to refuel only in a well-ventilated area.
Refueling and Replacement Procedure
So, lay the newspaper on the table and floor and proceed. Take out the old cartridge, look for a cork on it, through which the toner falls asleep. This plug is located behind one of the side covers. It is easy to remove it - just unscrew a couple of screws. Remove the cork and simply pour the toner inside. Just do it carefully and do not spray it around the room.
If there is no plug under the cover, then this is the structure of the cartridge itself. To refill it, you will have to open it completely and pour toner into the formed gap. In this case, refueling is very complicated. Therefore, when choosing a laser printer, you need to specify which cartridge is used internally.
There are also chip-on cartridges that may simply not work after refueling. At home, you can’t refuel such models. However, in special services they are refilled and hooked by new chips that are perceived by the printer. This can be an additional difficulty. Therefore, before changing the cartridge in the printer or refilling it with toner, check whether the chip is used there. If you replace the original cartridge with a chip with a non-original one, then it simply won’t work.
