The article describes the chemical resistant enamel XB-785, including technical specifications.
Composition and purpose
Enamel grade 785 is a paint and varnish material, the basis of which is polyvinyl chloride resin. It is designed to protect the surfaces of reinforced concrete, concrete and metal structures that have been previously primed, which are used both indoors and outdoors (black and red-brown enamels are used for this). It protects against aggressive gases (sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide and chlorine), and also reduces the damaging effect of sulfuric, phosphoric and hydrochloric acids. In this case, the air temperature should not be more than 60 degrees.
Enamel XB 785. Its technical characteristics
The paint is produced in the following colors: white, yellow, black, red-brown and gray. When agreed with the customer, the selection of a different color scheme is possible. The color determines the purpose for which the enamel XB 785 is intended. Technical specifications are indicated below in tabular form.

Safety requirements
This paint is flammable and contains toxic substances. This is due to the presence in it of acetone, butyl acetate and sovol, as well as lead compounds. Solvents that are part of the paint, when evaporated, have a harmful effect on human organs. Therefore, when working with it, local and general ventilation of the premises is necessary, and workers must use personal protective equipment. To extinguish fires, it is necessary to use sand, a nightmare, chemical or air-mechanical foam. To work with paint, the air temperature of the working area should be in the range from -10 ° C to +30 ° C, while the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. When applying three layers on a pre-primed surface, the XB-785 enamel retains its properties and characteristics for six years. In rooms with normal humidity, this period may increase.
Enamel XB-785 chemical resistant. Technical specifications and recommendations for use
Before starting work, it is necessary to clean the treated surface from rust or other contaminants (the metal plane should have the same roughness and metallic luster). For this you can use bead-blasting or sandblasting. If it is impossible to use the above methods, the use of cord brushes is allowed. It should also be noted that the surface must be cleaned to the degree of degreasing according to GOST 9.402-2004 (it is recommended to use white spirit). After that, it is required to prime the metal surfaces with soils of the following grades: XC-068, XC-010 and XC-059. Having completed all the preparatory work, you can go directly to staining.
How to apply enamel XB-785? Technical characteristics allow the following methods:
- roller;
- with a brush;
- pneumatic spraying;
- airless way;
The paintwork material must be mixed well in order to obtain a homogeneous mass. In some cases, solvents will be required to obtain working viscosity (they can also be used to clean tools). A prerequisite is the exclusion of moisture condensation. To do this, make sure that the temperature of the surface to be treated is not less than 3 ° C above the dew point. It is necessary to apply paint in layers. The first dries out for about 1 hour (at an air temperature of the working zone of +20 ° C). The next coat is applied only if the previous one is completely dry.
This enamel can be used with varnish XB-784.
Enamel 785: characteristics, consumption, storage conditions
When all the necessary conditions are met, the theoretical consumption of this enamel is 125-150 g / m 2 in one layer. The manufacturer recommends applying two layers with a thickness of 60-100 microns.
It is necessary to store the paint in a tightly sealed container (at a distance from open heat sources) and be sure to indoors in a temperature from -30 ° C to +30 ° C, in a dark and dry place. With long-term storage, an increase in the conditional viscosity of the paint is allowed, as well as sedimentation and delamination of the pigments in it. Six months after opening, the paint is considered unsuitable for further use.
