Do not twist the starter. What to do?

If the car does not twist the starter, there may be several reasons for this. The car started up with the pusher light - it means a malfunction in the starter itself, or there is no power supply from the battery.

First of all, if the starter does not turn, it is necessary to check the battery. Contacts should be well tightened and not oxidized. If, including the ignition, you hear a click (the retractor is triggered), it means that the wires are in order and the power is supplied, and the battery should be charged. Also a clue will be the bulbs that begin to go out when the ignition is turned on. Itโ€™s easy to fix the problem - install a new one or charge the old battery.

If the terminals are quickly oxidized, they should be lubricated after stripping. The voltage supply also depends on the quality of the installed terminals. It is better to put parts made of brass or lead, since now they began to sell those made of obscure metal. Outwardly, they are fine, but over time, a film forms inside that is not able to conduct current and is practically not visible.

If there is no click, if the starter does not turn, try to check the battery operation on a known good machine. And if it wound up without any problems, then it is worth looking into the wiring and checking that it is working.

The above cases are the simplest. Now consider the situation more complicated. Why does not the starter turn and what could be the reason?

If the battery is in excellent condition and your car does not start stubbornly, in this case, check the pyataks in the retractor relay . To do this, remove it from the starter, disassemble and clean it with a file. And if you do not want to mess with the retractor, it is better, of course, to get a new one. In the case of excellent operation of this relay, it is worth paying attention to the generator brushes. An indirect cause of their malfunction may be wear, because suddenly they do not break, but are erased gradually.

If smoke comes from the starter, then in all likelihood a short circuit has occurred and replacing it with a new one cannot be avoided.

Sometimes there is a break in the ground wire that connects the car body to the power unit, therefore the car does not start, the starter does not turn, but in this case there is a click, however, the brake, clutch or gas cable is heated. This can happen due to the fact that after the next repair it was simply not put in place.

What if the starter (VAZ) does not twist?

There are two types of starters for our domestic car. They are almost identical and interchangeable. One has an end-type collector, while the second has an ordinary cylindrical one.

It is impossible to give an unambiguous answer immediately, what could be the reason. Suppose that the battery is OK, there is a good contact in the terminals. If possible, of course, itโ€™s worth looking at the picture of the electrical connections in the picture, so that before you start to โ€œconjureโ€ yourself on the breakdown, at least roughly imagine how it works. And do not be embarrassed if you have a VAZ 2107 car or any other model - everything is almost identical everywhere, if you do not take into account small details.

To the above, we can add that if the wire is intact and it does not fall out of the starter terminal, it should be slightly exposed. Pulling it out of the housing terminal should not be, since it is almost impossible to put it in place, you have to remove the starter. So, with the most elementary probe - a small bulb with a pair of wires, you can check the voltage on this exposed section of the wire, naturally, with the starter running.

If there is no voltage, then a possible malfunction may be in the ignition key itself. Here it is necessary to bring voltage to the bare wire directly from the positive terminal. And if successful, you just need to change the key. This is the simplest and most basic troubleshooting.
