It's no secret that in any business you need to pay attention to details. It is they who make things unique, introduce elements of beauty and distinguish objects from the general background of everyday life. In construction, such trifles can be called small decorative elements that give the design an unusual look and elegance. This applies especially to such an element as a foam plinth ceiling.
Appointment
In modern construction, this type of material serves as a substitute for antique baguettes, which first decorated picture frames, and then began to be installed in the corners formed by the ceiling and wall. It is thanks to this arrangement that this design is called the ceiling plinth. The corners in this case turned out gentle, and in the presence of patterned products, they took the form of a handmade stucco molding. Therefore, such a skirting board has only an aesthetic purpose, closing the joints of wallpaper or suspended ceilings.
Mounting
Before installing this skirting board, you should align the walls and ceiling. The fact is that any irregularities or slight distortions that were not visually visible, will immediately appear when the ceiling foam baseboard is installed. Next, you need to measure the walls. A skirting board is cut on them with the help of a mounting knife, at an angle of 90 degrees. Then you need to determine which of the cut parts will be on the wall farthest from the door. At it, corners are cut at 45 degrees and using special glue they are attached to the wall. The same should be done with other parts.
Ceiling and walls
After the ceiling foam skirting has been installed, proceed to the finishing of the walls and ceiling. The fact is that the baguette is always the first to catch the eye, which means that its appearance should be a little brighter and not have flaws. It is worth noting that when filling the walls or ceiling, you can also process the plinth. However, care must be taken not to damage the patterns.
Painting
After the walls and ceiling have been completely completed, the ceiling foam baseboard should be painted. In this case, it is advisable to use masking tape, which should protect the ceiling and walls. To perform the work, it is necessary to use a water-based emulsion paint or other dye based on inactive components. The fact is that solvent-based enamels and varnishes can affect the structure of the foam and destroy the pattern. In this case, even the putty does not protect the baseboard from destruction.
Design solutions
Styrofoam skirting board is very popular among modern designers. Thanks to various shapes and patterns, it opens up great opportunities for the manifestation of personal creativity. Designers prefer to paint skirting boards under the ceiling in various colors, making a negative projection of the wallpaper, or transfer a vertical pattern to a horizontal plane. In fact, this element of decor can greatly change the appearance of the room, turning it into a stylish room for relaxing or receiving guests, and also help to distract attention from problem areas.
