DIY window jumpers

When building a house, the issue of window lintels is very important. You can buy ready-made elements, since it’s easy to find them on the market, but you can go the other way - do it yourself. Moreover, hand-made manufacturing will help not only to save finances, which during construction diverge quickly, but also to make the necessary parts of a more suitable size.

window and door jumpers

Manufacturers or intermediaries offer their customers window jumpers, the price of which varies greatly depending on their type. So, the jumper 3PB-16-37p will cost about 900 rubles, and 3PP-16-71 of the same length is already in the region of 2700 rubles. Therefore, before talking about how to make them yourself, you must first understand what they are and what their differences are:

  1. Bearing, also called reinforced beams. They take the load off the slabs.
  2. Not bearing, or just beams. They take the load from the walls erected above.
  3. "Pencils". This type of jumpers is the thinnest, and therefore the weakest. They are used in thin partitions, that is, where there will not be much pressure on them.
  4. Runs This name refers to ordinary jumpers of enormous size.
  5. Crossbar. These are the same runs, but with a special groove for laying slabs or other reinforced concrete structures.

It is almost impossible to do the runs and the crossbar on your own because of their large dimensions. But the window and door jumpers (ordinary and reinforced) to do it yourself is quite realistic, as will be described below. Pencils make it even easier.

Window jumpers can be made both on the street, and directly at the place of their future deployment. If this is done outside the house under construction, then the work itself on their manufacture is a little easier, but it is necessary to think about the fact that then they will need to be dragged, lifted and installed. And this is already hard work. If you do them right away on the wall, then you can get rid of such hard work.

The general plan of measures that must be completed in order to make window jumpers is as follows:

  1. Production of formwork panels. For these purposes, you can use an edged board with a thickness of 20-25 mm. It is best to fasten the lumber with screws and a screwdriver, then assembly and disassembly will be easier.
  2. Installation of the lower horizontal shield.
  3. Installation of backups. Under the installed lower formwork shield, supports must be installed. If this is not done, then the formwork may not withstand the mass of concrete and break.
  4. Reinforcement. A prerequisite is knitting a reinforcing mesh. The stronger the future reinforced concrete structure will be, the better.
  5. Installation of a vertical formwork shield. After the fittings are laid, you can fix the vertical formwork panels. It is also better to do this with self-tapping screws, so that later it is easier to disassemble.
  6. Fill. Well, at the last stage, concrete is poured.

In this simple way, you can independently make both window jumpers and door jumpers. Moreover, if everything is done correctly, then they will serve for a long time.
