The Mining Institute was created in 1956 as part of the Faculty of Engineering, since Yakutia has always been one of the largest mining regions of the country. Yakutia is the world's first supplier of diamonds, the largest producer of mica, gold, coal and tin. The Institute of Natural Sciences - the successor of the Faculty of Biology and Geography - is currently the center in the system of higher education and postgraduate professional in the field of chemistry, biology, ecology, geography and pedagogy in the North-East of Russia. The Institute of Psychology appeared in 2010 on the basis of the faculty that was present at the university since 1996 at the demand of a new time, when psychological knowledge was needed in all areas of activity. In today's conditions of informatization, globalization, stressful situations, deviations and addictions, psychologists are especially in demand in society. There is a two-level training system - undergraduate and graduate programs. The Institute also has a Training and Methodological Center and a Center for Practical Psychology. Institute of Physics and Technology
This institute with the oldest staff of the university, with the origins of 1934, when the first university of Yakutia opened - a pedagogical institute with a physics and mathematics faculty. In 2000, he came under the auspices of Yakutsk State University.
