Toyota Isis is a large seven-seater family MPV class minivan produced by the Japanese automaker from 2004 to 2017 mainly for the domestic market. Production was carried out at the facilities of the Kanto Auto Works factory.
Design
Isis is a modern model both in external design and in technical stuffing. The large streamlined body is devoid of design refinements, while the car is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable and safe ride: large headlights, fog lights, an energy-intensive bumper, vertically oriented clearly visible brake lights and taillights. Even the glass of the rear door is equipped with its own "janitor."
If you take a closer look at the Toyota Isis photo, you can see the main design feature - sliding rear doors. They have a proprietary "panoramic" design. That is, between the doors on the front passenger side there is no counter that facilitates the boarding / disembarkation of passengers. This is especially convenient for boarding overweight people with disabilities, senior citizens, pregnant women, small children, etc. With the front seat folded down, there is enough room even for a stroller. The doors are locked at the top and bottom, which does not affect security.
Salon
Being a seven-seater minivan, Toyota Isis has a spacious single-passenger compartment. On the one hand, this arrangement allows you to increase the capacity and convenience of passengers, on the other hand, if necessary, carry bulk cargo.
The front row is a separate seat with wide adjustment possibilities, side support elements and large head restraints. The middle row is designed for 2 + 1 passengers and folds with a proportion of 40/60%. The rear seats are slightly smaller, but are quite comfortable for adults.
Salon "Toyota Isis" has many options for transformation depending on the destination: transportation of goods or leisure. In the first case, the rear seats can be hidden under the floor, and the middle ones are folded and pushed forward to the stop. If you want to load a lot of things in the front of the car, there is the opportunity to fold and slide the front passenger seat to the dashboard, and move the second row to the third.
For recreation, there are also two options:
- Fold out the driver's seat right next to the middle row sofa.
- Fold out the seats of the second and third row, which allows you to form a spacious sleeping area.
Dashboard
Toyota has always been famous for innovation. So this time in the Toyota Isis model an interesting arrangement of controls is implemented. First of all, this applies to the central rack. It seems to grow from the floor, forming a small table on which the gear lever and control elements of the media center, air conditioning, etc. are placed.
The dashboard has a three-color design, which successfully combines a coal-black top, a light bottom and a bright spot of mahogany insert. All visual information is broadcast on two LCD screens. The steering wheel is medium in size, quite comfortable, with a minimum of additional control buttons. On the passenger side there is a spacious glove box.
Specifications
Toyota Isis is offered with two types of 4-cylinder gasoline engines:
- 1.8L 1ZZ-FE (120 hp at 5600 rpm, 122 Nm at 4400 rpm). Uses VVT-i Multipoint Fuel Injection.
- 2.0L 1AZ-FSE (150 hp at 5700 rpm, 200 Nm at 4000 rpm). Equipped with Toyota D-4 Series direct injection system.
Their design makes extensive use of aluminum die casting technology. A 4-speed automatic (for 1.8-liter versions) or a CVT system variator (for 2-liter) is used as a transmission. There are modifications with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

“Toyota Isis”, despite being released for the Japanese market, found its loyal fans in Russia (mainly in the Far Eastern regions). It is significant that there are very few negative reviews about the model.
Operators note the excellent workmanship and reliability of the design, which is not surprising, because the assembly was carried out in Japan. Of course, the multifunctional salon was awarded flattering reviews, where there is enough space for seven adult passengers. A convenient sliding door only adds positive emotions. For more significant points, the owners include the economical consumption of gasoline (8-10 liters) and excellent handling, despite the large dimensions of the car. By cons, you can only list possible problems with the search for original spare parts.
