How to disassemble a lighter and change flint in it

Conventional disposable lighters are the most widely used. They do not refuel with gas, but the weakest point in them is not this, but the fact that the crackers sometimes pop out of such a lighter in the very first days of its use. Flint in such a lighter is easy to replace. But still have a little tinker. In this article we will tell you how to disassemble a lighter and then, after inserting a new cracker, assemble it back.

What to do with a lighter in which there is still a lot of gas, but flint has flown out?

Start disassembling

Through the transparent walls it can be seen that the reservoir is still full of gas, and flint has already flown out for various reasons. Maybe from the factory, the machine gun stuck in the groove of the lighter the defective (broken off) crackers, maybe there was a hidden defect (cracks or third-party inclusions) in the flint itself, which caused a premature “outburst” of flint from the lighter. Lean people do not throw such lighters, but simply put them off in reserve. The hour is uneven, it will happen to stumble on a lighter without gas, but with a working cracker. Then you can in a few minutes from a couple of non-working people to collect one quite capable.

Dismantling the lighter

So, before us are two - gas lighters. How to disassemble them carefully so as not to damage third-party parts? We follow the following instructions:

  1. We take the lighter in one hand, bend the steel refractory casing to the side with the fingernail of the other finger. It will bend easily, after which the risks in the walls will come out of their grooves and it can simply be removed.
    Cover removal
  2. We do not pay attention to the other structure of the lighter. Here we need only a wheel, which simultaneously presses the column of the cuckoo and serves for cutting sparks out of it, by means of which the gas is ignited, which flows when the exhaust / shut-off valve is pressed with the thumb of the hand. The wheel, as we see, is located in the grooves of the plastic racks. We bend one of the racks to the right, with the fingernail of the other hand we push the wheel in the opposite direction.
  3. You need to be prepared for the fact that, as soon as the wheel is removed, the spring, pushing the flint upward, immediately straightens and fly out of its groove-hole. So that you don’t have to look for it for a long time, crawling on the hands and knees on the floor (you’ll quickly find a spring, it’s quite long, it’s also magnetized when searching with a magnet, but you will have to tinker with the search), removing the wheel is best done over the table and under a towel (napkin).
    Spring, wheel and creams

All. If the flint is replaced, nothing else needs to be disassembled. Now, in a similar way, we disassemble the second lighter.

Lighter assembly

How to disassemble the lighter, figured out, its assembly is carried out in the reverse order, but it will take longer to tinker. We also mention that here we need a knife with a thin and sharp blade. The assembly order is as follows:

  1. We insert the spring into the groove located between the plastic ears of the wheel holders. Its edge will stick out a little, as it should be.
  2. On its upper part, you carefully gently put up a column of cuckoo and, pressing it on top with a sharp knife, immerse both the spiral and the cocks in the hole between the plastic ear-holders for the wheel.
Installation of a spring and a kremushka
  3. Without releasing the knife (otherwise both the spiral and the crackers will fly out and have to crawl again in their search throughout the room), we set up the wheel itself for cutting sparks. First, insert its axis into the groove of one plastic eye, then into the groove of the other.
  4. Only when the wheel axis sits firmly in the grooves can the knife be removed. Kremushek rests on the wheel and will be ready to go.
  5. Before installing the steel refractory casing, it is advisable to squeeze it a little on the sides to create the effect of a spring. Then, put in place, it will hold tight in its grooves and will not fly off.
    Assembled lighter

Of the two non-working lighters, we got one working. The remains of another lighter with an empty tank and without flint will no longer be useful to us. Therefore, they can be thrown away, and the disassembly / assembly process can be considered completed.
