Transmission repair, clutch disc replacement and clutch repair

A carโ€™s transmission is a complex device that includes a clutch, gearbox, differential, cardan gear, drive shafts. Being in good condition (and also subject to the use of only high-quality engine oil), all these components ensure smooth and continuous operation of the car.

There may be several reasons why the transmission needs repair, these are mainly breakdowns of the mechanical gearbox, consisting in switching control on the go, in the untimely replacement of filters and oil. Or in the box, knocks, noises are heard, a spontaneous shutdown occurs.

Gearbox repair is a rather time-consuming and complicated process, as this is the main device of the mechanism, which carries out the will of the driver in speed, power and provides all the comfort of driving. Repair consists in removing the gearbox, disassembling it, carrying out troubleshooting, replacing parts and reassembling. Therefore, replacing and repairing the gearbox, clutch repair, and replacing the clutch discs requires a professional and demanding approach.

With proper maintenance, adjustment, and the correct manner of driving, the clutch works fine. Clutch repair or replacement is necessary due to substantial wear or damage. One of the reasons for clutch repair is a malfunction in the form of jerking, incomplete switching off or slipping of the clutch, knocking or noise. To eliminate these problems, a high-quality clutch repair is required.

When slipping, the worn functional overlays of the clutch disc or the disc itself are replaced. Also replaced are pressure springs that have lost elasticity, and heat-insulating washers.

The clutch disc is replaced as follows:

First you need to disconnect the negative terminal from the body in order to avoid short circuit.

Then you need to disconnect the hydraulic cylinder from the clutch mechanism, then lift the car with a jack. Drain gear oil. Remove starter. Then you need to unscrew and remove the gearbox from the engine.

Next, unscrew the clutch from the engine flywheel. After removing the clutch cover and driven disc, check the condition of all parts. The rivet heads should be deepened by 1.1 mm, if this figure is less, then the disc must be replaced.

When installing the driven disk in the casing, it is necessary to direct the part that protrudes relatively from the hub towards the spring.

We install the discs on the flywheel, while tightly tightening the mounting bolts.

If clutch repair is due to incomplete inclusion, then the alignment of the clutch disc is performed. After that, the hub is seized. Next, the friction linings that are broken or rivet-weakened are replaced.

If the clutch engages jerkily, the clutch disc is replaced because the spring plates have lost their elasticity or the torsion damper springs have broken. After that, the working surface of the flywheel and the clutch disc is cleaned, or the oily surface of the clutch disc is cleaned. Next, replace the gearbox bearing.

Carrying out the clutch repair in the event of noise, knocking or rattling, the clutch plate broken by the damper is replaced (the damper is a torsional vibration damper). Next, the pressure bearing and spline connection parts are replaced , as well as the front end bearing of the gearbox drive shaft. Then the clutch cover is replaced with a weak diaphragm spring.
