Composite veneers give a luxurious smile

Beautiful, even and snow-white teeth - what could be more attractive? It is not for nothing that actors, politicians and people in public professions often use the services of a dentist to create the perfect smile. But nobody wants to spoil the teeth by installing crowns either. Therefore, a new method for correcting the dentition was developed and introduced - using veneers. For most people, this is a new type of prosthetics. What are veneers and what is their feature? This is a modern method of correcting the dentition in order to improve the shape, color and appearance of the teeth. The veneer itself is a thin, almost transparent plate.

There are several types of veneers. The difference between them depends on the materials from which they are made: ceramic, composite and porcelain. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. The most simple to manufacture composite veneers. Like others, they are able to correct and eliminate the aesthetic defects of the front teeth, but at the same time, the time spent on visiting the clinic is limited to one day.

composite veneers
Composite veneers are made from filling material directly in the patient's mouth. The doctor treats the tooth surface with a special acid-containing gel, and then the composite material itself is applied layer by layer. Each application is fixed with a photopolymer lamp. At the end of the procedure, the tooth is ground. To create ceramic and porcelain linings requires a dental laboratory and a longer time for their manufacture. Among other things, the processing of the tooth surface for composite veneers is minimized. Only the part that needs correction is machined.

Indications for installing veneers are:

- gaps between the teeth;

- chips;

- the presence of old fillings that have darkened or substantially changed their color;

- discoloration of the tooth itself, possibly due to fluorosis;

- tetracycline teeth , etc.

what is veneers
The aesthetic and mechanical properties of composite veneers directly depend on the composition, or rather, on the particle size of the material itself. More durable plates, which include composite particles of more than 30 microns, are poorly polished and quickly fade. Pads with a microparticle size of 0.04 microns are distinguished by excellent aesthetic properties, are highly polished, but rather fragile, more often used for filling teeth. As usual, preference is given to the golden mean, namely, materials with a filler up to 0.15 microns. Such veneers are strong enough, lend themselves well to grinding and look like a natural tooth.

put veneers
And yet, not everyone can put veneers. Contraindications are untreated periodontitis, malocclusion, thinning or a small amount of enamel, the habit of gnashing of teeth (bruxism).

Nevertheless, composite veneers are very popular among patients. Of their advantages over ceramic and porcelain, a fairly affordable price (more than two times cheaper than analogues) and installation speed (work is done in one visit to the dentist) should be highlighted. A wide range of colors can satisfy any esthete. With proper care, veneers will serve faithfully for many years.
