University background
The history of aviation education in Rybinsk began in 1932 from the moment the profile institute was formed. The university has successfully trained specialists for several years. But with the outbreak of World War II, habitual work was disrupted. There was a threat to the continued existence of the institution.
To preserve the institute and continue training specialists, it was decided to evacuate the university in Ufa. Unfortunately, this was the end of the history of aviation education in Rybinsk. The educational institution after the war was not transferred back to their hometown. It was transformed into the Ufa Aviation Institute.
Opening of a new university in Rybinsk
The revival of the Aviation Institute in Rybinsk was thought in the 50s of the last century. Once again, a university of this profile opened its doors to students in 1955. The educational institution was called evening. This name indicated the presence of a single form of training suitable for working people.
The first transformations at the institute took place in 1964. It opened new forms of training - full-time and part-time. The emergence of new opportunities for students has caused a change in name. The university was renamed the Rybinsk Aviation Technological Institute.
Change of status and modernity
In the 90s, drastic changes in the education system began to occur in the country. They also touched the Aviation Institute of Technology in Rybinsk. The educational institution was transformed into an academy. The second change in status occurred a few years later. In 2011, the university began to proudly bear the name of the Aviation Technical University.
The existing Russian State Technical University in Rybinsk is a modern educational organization of aerospace profile. It is located at: Pushkin street, 53. Over the years, the organization has undergone significant transformations, expanded its structure. At the very beginning of its activities, the university had only 2 faculties - aviation and mechanical-technological. Today, there are 4 main structural divisions. Faculty of Aircraft Engine Engineering
This structural unit was formed at the time the university was founded, but under a different name. For the first time, students studied here only as aircraft engine engineers. However, time passed, the world changed, scientific discoveries were made. All this required the university to create new specialties and draw up curricula.
Today, the faculty is preparing for a wide range of areas and specialties. These are “Heat engineering and heat power engineering”, “Technology of materials and materials science”, “Metallurgy”, “Technical physics”, etc. High-quality training of specialists is provided by the graduating departments of the faculty. On them:
- there are educational research laboratories for students;
- display classes work with modern technology;
- there is the necessary training equipment (various machines, robotic complexes).
Faculty of Aviation Technology
The history of this unit of the modern Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University also began in 1955, when a mechanics and technology department was opened in the structure of the university. His task was to train engineers in 2 specialties - “Metal-cutting tools and machine tools”, “Engineering technology”.
To date, for applicants, the list of areas and specialties at the faculty has become not very diverse. 2 areas of undergraduate and 1 specialty are offered:
- "Engineering";
- "Design and technological support of engineering industries";
- "Design of technological complexes and machines."
The material and technical base at this faculty of the Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University named after Solovyov is sufficient to organize a quality educational process. The laboratories of technical mechanics, the theory of machines and mechanisms, and machine parts are properly equipped. For a more successful assimilation of new material by students, the university acquired posters for the faculty models of mechanisms and gears.
Faculty of Radio Electronics and Informatics
The origin of this structural unit occurred in 1976. A radio engineering department was opened at the then existing institute. His work began with a small number of specialties. Today 5 bachelor's degree programs are implemented on it:

- "Software Engineering";
- "Technology and design of electronic means";
- "Nanoelectronics and Electronics";
- "Electrical Engineering and Electric Power Industry".
The Faculty of Radio Electronics and Informatics as part of the Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University is a modern structural unit. To organize the educational process, computer projectors were purchased that monitor and train computer programs, video films, and presentations are created.
Social and Economic Faculty
The youngest faculty at the university is socio-economic. It was created at the university in 2002, since the enterprises and organizations located in the city and beyond its borders needed not only specialists in aircraft manufacturing, mechanical engineering, power engineering, and electronics. Qualified personnel in the fields of economics, management, service and tourism were also required.
