The most capacious and accurate to characterize the Audi RS6 car can be like a sports car, hiding in the shoes of a business class wagon. The first generation of the model was released in 2002, and at the moment the manufacturer offers motorists already the third generation of RS6.
The Audi RS6 station wagon is the third model in the RS family, released after RS2 and RS4, which were demonstrated to the global automotive community in 1994 and 2000, respectively. In the first two generations, the car was produced in two types of body - wagon and sedan, but by the third manufacturer decided to leave only the wagon.
First generation
At the facilities of the plant owned by Quattro GmbH, in 2002, the assembly of the Audi RS6 began. A new model was created based on the Audi A6 and was produced only in station wagon and sedan bodies. RS6 was assembled for two years - until 2004 - after which production ceased until the model was restyled and the second generation was launched in 2008.
Second generation
A restyled version of the Audi RS6 was shown to the general public in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The basis for the creation of a new model was the Audi A6. The second generation as well as the first, was produced in two bodies - wagon and sedan - for two years. Until 2010, about 6.5 thousand copies left the assembly line.
The second generation received a more aggressive appearance and several changes, thanks to which the new model stood out from the civilian version of the A6 and the first generation. The relief hood of the body smoothly turns into LED optics. Almost the entire front part of the body is occupied by a radiator grille with chrome trim, on which the RS6 nameplate and Audi logo are fixed. A little lower is a large bumper with air intakes, the shape of which allows you to direct the air flow primarily to the braking mechanisms.
Third generation
In 2013, Audi released the third generation RS6, and a year later, in 2014, it was restyled. Over the past three years, the car is produced in an unchanged design. The body of the Avant Audi RS6 is the only one in which this model is assembled.
A new car can be purchased from authorized dealers for 7.6 million rubles.
Since such a model is the flagship in the entire RS lineup, it is decorated with an original black radiator grille, which houses not only the Audi brand logo, but also two inscriptions - quattro and RS6. The front bumper is made in an aggressive style with large air intakes. The exhaust pipes and diffuser are integrated into the rear bumper.
Interior
The Audi RS6 photos convey ergonomics, elegance and interior styling. On the black dashboard, red arrows and white instrument scales stand out favorably. The multi-function leather steering wheel is decorated with the RS series emblem. A similar nameplate is on the display of the information system, tachometer, MMI system, door sills and some other details of the passenger compartment.
Luggage compartment
Trunk volume Audi RS6 is 565 liters. It can be increased to 1680 liters by adding the rear row of seats.
Basic equipment
The version with the minimum configuration includes the following options:
- MMI Navigation plus system with touch screen;
- BOSE speaker system;
- four-zone climate control.
For an additional fee, dealers offer a night vision system, adaptive cruise control, tinted windows, a projection system for information on the windshield, sunroof, blind spot control, track tracking, collision avoidance, ventilation and heated front seats, 21-inch wheels and some other options.
Specifications
After restyling, the Audi RS6 acquired two versions of the power unit: an eight-cylinder four-liter TFSI engine with a capacity of 560 horsepower and a similar engine with a capacity of 605 horsepower. Both options are equipped with an automatic eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.
The combination of engine and automatic transmission allows you to accelerate the car to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds. The maximum speed limit of the basic Audi RS6 is 250 km / h and is electronically limited. However, the limit can be shifted to 280 km / h or 305 km / h depending on the selected version of the car. Fuel consumption per 100 kilometers in mixed mode is 9-10 liters.
The eight-speed Tiptronic, which is equipped with the RS6, has been reprogrammed specifically for use with a powerful engine. Gears shift quickly and smoothly. The transmission is heated by the cooling system of the power unit, due to which the heating of the gearbox is significantly accelerated, which ensures its efficient operation.
The torque is distributed by a Quattro all-wheel drive system in a ratio of 40/60 to the rear and front axles, respectively. If necessary, the owner of the Audi RS6 can redistribute the torque between the axles. A sports differential is an additional option and increases the reliability of cornering at high speed.
The front suspension of the Audi RS6 is a five-link independent, the design of which allows for the processing of longitudinal and lateral forces separately. The rear suspension is made using aluminum trapezoidal rods.
The basic equipment of the Audi RS6 is equipped with air suspension, tuned for a dynamic driving style, which led to a decrease in ground clearance by 20 millimeters. The stiffness of the shock absorbers installed is influenced by the selected Audi Drive Select mode, type of road surface and driving style.
An alternative is Audi Sport suspension plus. It is also equipped with a DRC system, steel springs and shock absorbers with three-stage adjustment. The shock absorbers are connected to each other by means of oil pipes with a central valve.
Audi Drive Select can optionally be equipped with dynamic steering, which changes the gear ratio and the degree of gain. The operating modes of the main components and systems of the Audi RS6 car - steering, sports differential, powertrain, gearbox and exhaust sound control, are selected precisely in the Audi Drive Select system.
The Audi Drive Select system has basic programmed Auto, Comfort, and Dynamic modes. When changing settings yourself, the Individual mode is automatically selected. You can select a specific Audi Drive Select operating mode from the steering wheel by means of special keys. The course stabilization system integrated in the RS6 is equipped with a sports mode of operation. However, if desired by the driver, it can be completely disabled.
The third-generation Audi RS6 brake system is represented by ventilated brake discs, the weight of which is three kilograms less than the traditional ones. The diameter of the brake discs mounted on the front brakes is 390 millimeters. Some trim levels, among other additional features of the Audi RS6, include carbon fiber reinforced ceramic brake discs. The total mass of the car after installing such elements is reduced by 10 kilograms.
Cost
A used car of the third generation Audi RS6 can be purchased on the secondary market for a minimum of 3.8 million rubles. The restyled version will cost 7.5 million rubles.
