History of creation
It begins with a document that was signed by Emperor Nicholas I in 1840 stating that a faculty of medicine should be opened at Kiev University. The need for such a decision of the king was due to several reasons. The first was that the Vilnius Academy, which was located in Vilnius (now Vilnius), was to be transferred to Kiev. The second was due to the high need for doctors, which escalated whenever epidemics and wars began.
The first lectures began in September 1841. So the medical faculty of Kiev University named after St. Vladimir appeared. For some time he remained a division of the university. He received the status of an independent educational institution much later - in 1920. Then, under the name Institute of Health, several medical faculties located in different universities and institutes were combined. In wartime, the institute was evacuated to Chelyabinsk, but already in 1943 the classes were resumed. Another significant date in the history of the university is the assignment of the name of Alexander Bogomolets to him. University structure
Bogomolets Medical University of Kyiv includes twelve faculties that provide training for doctors in various fields of activity:
- four medical faculties that train surgeons, gynecologists, pediatricians, therapists, immunologists, etc.

University of Alternative and Traditional Medicine

The idea of creating a university arose from its founder Valery Pokanevich in the early nineties.
