T-shirt is the basic unit of women's and men's wardrobe. This is a universal thing that you can wear to meet friends, for a walk, to work, or to wear at home. It’s hard to find something more comfortable and practical than a regular T-shirt.

What is the name of a long sleeve t-shirt? Today, most often you can hear the term "longsleeve", which is translated from English as a combination of the words "sleeve" (sleeve) and "long" (long).
But along with the English term on the labels in the store you can find different definitions: sweatshirt, raglan, henley. And of course, just a “long sleeve t-shirt." Which term is more correct?
Russian commodity experts say that it would be right to call such a thing a jumper, that is, a knitwear with a round neckline and long sleeves. But in fact this is not entirely correct. Jumpers are often knitted, winter, while a T-shirt is always made of thin knitted fabric.
So the most accurate term is “longsleeve”.
Classification
Despite some confusion in terms and names, most retailers, one way or another, calling any t-shirt with a long sleeve, imply that it has certain characteristics. So, in all the variety of assortment you can find:
- Longsleeve - fitted in shape, with long sleeves.
- Sweatshirts. This is the progenitor of a longsleeve, the same product, but a more loose cut. But sweatshirts are a broader concept. Often this term is called warm underwear with a long or short sleeve. And here and there they call it quilted winter quilted jackets or knitted shirts.
- Jumpers. This is often called T-shirts made from slightly denser fabric.
But as already mentioned, the most accurate name is longsleeve.
By designation, long-sleeve t-shirts can be divided into sports, home, weekend things and underwear.
According to the season - for summer and winter.
In length - on shortened (mainly female models), elongated and medium.
By type of neck - with a round or V-neck.
There are also special long-sleeves, for example compression ones, which help to improve the result of sports activities.
Male and female models
Today, this simple and comfortable clothing through the efforts of fashion designers has become a fashion trend. T-shirts with long sleeves have a lot of cut options, and they can be recognized by certain distinguishing features:
- Polo. Differ in a V-neck and a number of buttons. It goes well with classic cut trousers or sweatpants.
- With a hood. The style looks great complete with skinny jeans.
- With an inset collar. This model looks like a shirt was put on under a t-shirt. Great choice for business or casual style.
- On the buttons. Previously, such a product would be called a sweater made of thin knitwear, but today it is more often called a longsleeve. It is put on complete with a light T-shirt, shirt or on a naked body.
- Raglan. Why they began to call models of T-shirts so, it is not clear, since raglan is a cut of a sleeve at which it is cut together with part of a shelf (shoulder and part of a back). Moreover, this name can be seen both on products with a raglan sleeve, and without it. But the latter option is quite rare.
- Henley This style is more common in male models. Henley is a thin tight-fitting T-shirt with a short, long, but most often ¾ sleeve, a round neck and a row of buttons. It can serve as an independent element of the wardrobe, but it looks especially good as a second layer complete with a shirt or vest.

Coloring and print
The basic things in any wardrobe are a white and black t-shirt. They never go out of fashion, they can be combined with any other things of any style and color. Gray longsleeve seems too boring and inconspicuous. But it can be revived if you pick up a brighter bottom for it.
Both men and women have tender feelings for striped T-shirts and camouflage colors. Almost every person has at least one of these options, but more often both.
As for the prints and colors, there are so many of them that it is not possible to reduce them to some common denominator. And if earlier female drawings on fabrics differed from male ones, then the fashion for the unisex style destroyed these differences.
T-shirts with long sleeves for men and women: how do they differ?
How to distinguish a male model from a female? If the thing is neutral in color, then you need to consider the cut of the product.
For the male figure, broad shoulders and a narrow pelvis are characteristic, while for a female figure - vice versa. Therefore, for the stronger sex, the product is cut with an allowance on the shoulders, and in female models the shelf is always larger than the back. But t-shirts are free things, they are often taken 1-2 sizes larger, so such an allowance can offset all the differences. But with tight-fitting styles, you should be more careful.
A men's t-shirt with a long sleeve can also be calculated by the size grid on the label. It is different from the female, and the same size for representatives of different sex indicates different parameters.
Material
Men's and women's long-sleeve t-shirts are made from the following fabrics:
- Cotton. Natural, pleasant to the touch and fairly durable material. But prone to stretching. There are many options for weaving fibers and processing methods, so there are many types of cotton fabrics for t-shirts.
- Polyester. Synthetics. If you do not go into complex technical details, then polyester can be of two types - cheap and expensive. The first - does not let air in and is uncomfortable for the skin. The second is high-tech breathable material, suitable for summer sportswear. Both of them are very popular.
- Viscose. Artificial fabric, which in characteristics resembles cotton, but worse. Quickly loses shape, wrinkles and is not machine washable.
- Linen. Natural, durable and wear resistant fabric. But a little rude and expensive.
- Silk. Dear natural material. Products from it are rare and have a clearly overpriced price. It is good in heat, does not deform, is pleasant to the body.
