Not every car owner knows what SHRUS is. This is the abbreviated name of the joint of equal angular speeds, that is, the device thanks to which the gearbox and engine retain traction even if the steering wheel is completely turned out. Thanks to this device, a front-wheel drive car becomes more economical than a classic car.
The wear of the CV joint is especially high when the steering wheel is turned out, because in this state the load on the wheels increases several times, which can lead to the departure of the wheels from the arches of the car. Therefore, the competent replacement of the CV joint is very important. First of all, you need to ensure that the cracked covers change on time, and the lubricant is always fresh. Otherwise, water droplets and dust will remove the CV joint from the working state after a hundred kilometers.

To check the condition of the anthers, it is enough just to look behind the front wheel, having previously turned it all the way. If the corrugated gum located in the central part of the wheel is intact, then everything is normal. If not, an emergency replacement of the CV joint boot is required. In the case of ignoring the malfunction, sand and dust will fall into the anther, which will damage the SHRUS itself. A similar replacement procedure is also needed if the rubber is cracked. SHRUS malfunction can be easily diagnosed even without external inspection: when the car goes along sharp turns, a characteristic crackle appears. Note that in the case of anther integrity, you can ride for a long time with such a “crunch”.
Replacing the CV joint boot is carried out as follows:
1. First you need to get keys in case the standard tool is not suitable for unscrewing the hub nuts. In addition, you should stock up on oil to add to the gearbox.
2. After the preparation phase, you can proceed with the replacement process itself. Lift the front of the car, remove the wheels, setting the machine on a reliable support. Then remove the safety dowels and caps from the hub nuts. This can only be done if the assistant is holding the brake at this time. Then loosen the nuts. Replacing the CV joint boot is carried out according to the standard scheme: unscrewing the mounting bolts, completely unscrewing the nut, releasing the hub to itself. Then it becomes possible to remove the CV joint from the bearing and disconnect the drive shaft from the gearbox. This procedure is carried out in three ways.
If anther replacement is necessary, it is best to start the procedure from the end of the shaft, having previously disassembled the internal joint. First remove the boot from the joint, then three bearings. The following elements for removal are a lock ring and a three-beam. Only after this is it possible to dismantle the boot of the external joint through the entire shaft. The resulting components should be washed, cleaned of grease and oil, and defective parts should be replaced with new ones.
3. Replacing the CV joint boot ends after it is installed and all parts are mounted. It is recommended to stabilize the internal pressure in the anthers when the drive shaft is static.
