Painting of metal structures is an important factor in the construction of any structures. Coating with metal, paint and varnish products provides some protection from external factors such as moisture, chemicals and much more. Need varies depending on different factors. The painting process is carried out in several stages:
- Preliminary preparation of the painted surface;
- Primer coating;
- Directly paintwork.
Preliminary preparation
Initially, it is necessary to clean and degrease the work surface. Stages of surface preparation:
- Getting rid of the previous coating, as well as dust and dirt;
- Rust removal;
- Surface grinding;
- Metal degreasing.
Primer
The pre-prepared surface is coated with an anti-corrosion compound. It is necessary to prevent metal corrosion and improve adhesion to the primer. After it dries, a primer is applied.
Metal painting
The surface is painted immediately after the primer has dried. Painting can be done either manually or using a high-pressure apparatus.
The mechanized method of painting is the least difficult and therefore not expensive. In specialized rooms, automatic and manual spray guns are used. The advantages of the method are:
- External factors, such as weather, do not affect the painting process;
- It is carried out, as a rule, by automation.
One disadvantage of this method is the limited capacity of the working room. And as a result, it is not possible to paint large structures.
Painting at high altitude is associated with certain difficulties. A large amount of costly work. For such painting will have to rent a lift or install scaffolding. For these purposes, it has recently been popular to hire construction climbers. They descend to the workplace directly from the roof. Arriving at the construction site, they first fix the alpine equipment and after that immediately begin to work. At the end of such work, there is a great advantage, because after the work of climbers, builders do not need to disassemble anything.
A large number of coatings are used, which are selected due to many factors - the duration of daylight hours of a particular region, humidity, air temperature, the presence of chemical exposure and many others. The term of operation of a building depends on both high-quality installation and its additional processing.
