All students sooner or later think about their future life, about which university it is best to enter. Similar thoughts arise for those who have long graduated from high school, but haven’t gone anywhere, or already have a secondary specialized or higher education. One of the options is to choose the Polytechnic University (Omsk). For several decades, this university has been training specialists mainly for the military-industrial complex, and is engaged in scientific and technical projects and developments.
The history of the university
The date of foundation of the currently existing Polytechnic University in Omsk is 1942. However, the history of this educational institution began a little earlier - in 1941. In connection with the war, the Engineering Institute was evacuated to the city from Voroshilov (now it is called Ussuriysk). He had only an evening department. A year later, the school was reorganized. In its place appeared the Omsk Machine-Building Institute, offering evening and full-time education.
At the time of creation, the university had only 2 faculties - engineering and technology. Later appeared the faculties of hot metal processing and instrument-making. Since 1963, the university began to be called the Polytechnic Institute, and in 1993 it was renamed the University.

Full-time study at OmSTU
Full-time training Polytechnic University (Omsk) offers a budget and paid basis. Those students who study at the first of them do not contribute money to study. According to the results of certification, subject to the delivery of all subjects for grades “4” and “5”, scholarships are awarded to students. It is worth noting that as part of the training, a targeted admission is conducted on a free basis . Its essence lies in the fact that applicants from specific companies are sent to the university for admission.
Target recruitment is carried out:
- for enterprises of the military-industrial complex (state order);
- for institutions of the city and region (regional recruitment);
- for enterprises of other regions of the country.
Students studying on a fee basis contribute money for study. The scholarship is not paid. It is possible to transfer from a paid form to a budget, but this is only possible in cases where previously occupied free places are freed (for example, when a student is expelled).
Polytechnic University (Omsk): correspondence department
For people who need to combine work with study, the university has a correspondence department. You can go to it immediately after grade 11 if you have the results of the exam in the necessary subjects. The first stage in correspondence courses at any semester is a graduation. So the students call the period during which they study the educational literature, gain knowledge in the classes. The second and third stage in the correspondence department is a credit week and an examination session.
In the correspondence department, the university offers distance learning. Applicants can choose it upon admission. However, there is no guarantee that training will ultimately be conducted on this form. The fact is that university employees form a distance group during the admission campaign. If she is not recruited, then training is carried out in the correspondence department.
