Perm - the backbone and salt of the earth, as the city is unofficially called - is a large industrial center not only in the Urals, but throughout Russia. Today, the Trans-Siberian Railway passes through the city district, the river port on the Kama River has no less important logistic significance, and once the first railway in the Urals was laid here.
The support of the state in an industrial sense is Perm. The population, area, geographical location, territorial division, infrastructure and current problems of the urban district will be briefly discussed below.
Geographical position

The population of the Perm urban district is 1,041,876 people, 991,162 people live directly in the city. In the past few years, the number of Permians has been increasing year by year, although before that, from 1990 to 2005, a decrease in the number of population was observed. Perm is divided into seven urban areas. Urban District
The historical and business center of Perm is the Leninsky district. There are libraries, a philharmonic society, theaters, galleries and exhibition halls, several higher educational institutions, government agencies and industrial enterprises. Leninsky district occupies 47.5 square meters. km, which is almost six percent of the total city area.
Ordzhonikidze district occupies 22% of Perm. In this administrative-territorial unit, mainly industrial enterprises and the private sector are located. There are three and a half thousand private houses in the Ordzhonikidze district, and eight hundred and fifty apartment buildings.
The remaining areas of the city of Perm - Kirovsky, Industrial, Sverdlovsky, Dzerzhinsky, Motovilikhinsky - are evenly built up with apartment buildings and private houses, as well as industrial enterprises and social facilities, that is, hospitals, schools and kindergartens, shops. Among the urban forests of which Perm (the area of ββthe latter totals almost 34 thousand hectares) includes vast territories, the Sverdlovsk district stands out, densely built up with residential buildings.
Community Infrastructure
The main problems of Perm in the field of housing and communal services are:
- reduction in affordable housing construction;
- low availability of buying their own living space to citizens with low and medium income levels;
- insufficient financing of capital repairs of the housing stock from the local budget;
- the need for significant investment by the municipal authorities to stabilize the housing sector.
The correct layout of neighborhoods and streets in the center of the village is Perm. The area of ββthe city, in addition, is covered by a dense road network, so there are no problems with the ease of movement by personal vehicles. Road traffic is moderate, but is notable for peak hours.
A significant share of the traffic is public transport. More than a thousand buses, almost two hundred trams and one hundred and twenty trolley buses - Perm has such a composition of public transport. The area of ββthe city is also served by fixed-route taxis operating in twelve directions.
The main direction of the development of the city's infrastructure was announced the expansion of rail transport. So, within the framework of the Perm Tram project, 45 new trams were purchased, which are distinguished by a low floor, which is especially convenient for low-mobility citizens and parents with baby strollers, as well as Wi-Fi.
