Euro-booklet: sizes, printing features and scope

Printed marketing tools have not lost their relevance even in the era of the Internet and SMM. Competent advertising printing is still the key to success in the promotion of goods and services. Moreover, such tools are more versatile and available for different business sectors.

What is leaflet?

One of the "paper tools" of promotion is a Euro-booklet (aka leaflet). This type of printing products is in demand for many reasons. These include:

  • maximum informational content;
  • economic development, printing and post-printing processing;
  • ease of distribution.

The Euro-booklet is an A4 sheet on which one, two or three folds (folds) can be made. The most popular option is a two-fold leaflet. In this design, fastening elements (staples, paper clips, weaving) are not used.

Another advantage of such products is the ability to print leaflets on simple office equipment and even at home. The layout for the Eurobook is easy to develop, and this process does not take much time.

To replicate single-color leaflets, a risograph or digital duplicator is suitable. This production method will make the cost of circulation cheaper, due to the lower cost of one copy compared to the cost of printing on a digital printer or printing press.

An important point is the quality of the paper used. If the sheets used for the manufacture of leaflets were improperly stored, exposed to direct sunlight, then there is a high probability of tearing the paper along the fold, which is a manufacturing defect. Therefore, it is best to store paper for Eurobooklets in a dry, dark room and carry out post-printing processing in two stages.

Eurobooklet: layout dimensions

According to the standard, as already mentioned, leaflets are printed on A4 sheets. The size of Eurobook A4, in accordance with ISO 216, is 210 x 297 mm, with a diagonal of 364 mm. Also, printing is performed on the A3 format, which is 420 x 297 mm.

Euro-booklet layout sizes

The dimensions of the Euro-booklet with 2 folds, that is, folded in three, is 99 x 210 mm. When printing on A3 format - 140 x 297 mm. If a leaflet with three folds is printed, then the finished product will have a size of 5.25 x 210 mm, but more often this type is printed on sheets of a larger area, for example, A3. Then the size of the booklet in the finished form will be equal to 100 x 210 mm, and the remaining 20 mm will be cut during post-print processing.

Production Features

For printing leaflets, both digital and offset methods are suitable. The main criteria for choosing a printing method will be the desired print run and project budget. If necessary, produce a small number of Euro-booklets, preference is given to digital printing, for large volumes - offset.

Leaflets are printed on paper of any quality and density. They can be color and black and white, but, as a rule, bilateral. For simple projects, white or colored office paper is suitable.

Eurobooks are easy to turn into premium printing products . In this case, they are printed on designer cardboard or expensive handmade paper, and the elements of silk-screen printing and letterpress are used for decoration.

Production stages

Work on the leaflet begins with the development of the layout. This stage also includes:

  • Preparing and editing text.
  • Selection of photographs, if necessary.
  • The choice of colors.
  • Placement of all elements on the layout.
  • Reconciliation and approval of the layout.

Depending on the selected printing method, the following steps may differ, but as a rule, they look as follows:

  1. Color test.
  2. Trial run.
  3. Additional print run.
  4. Drying (for offset printing).
  5. Cutting to format.
  6. Preparation for post-printing processing.

The final stage of work for leaflet will be post-printing processing:

  • scoring;
  • folding;
  • folding the finished euro-booklet;
  • packaging of finished products.

For post-processing, special machines are used - folding and scoring. They can be either mechanical or automatic. For low-density paper, only folding is used, for denser paper, creasing is first carried out, during which recesses are made to preserve the integrity of the upper layer of the sheet and die. Subsequently, the fold passes in the very center of the creasing groove.
