How is food certification done?

Food products remain for people the substance in which they find a special type of energy necessary for the stable functioning of a living organism as a whole.

Typology

Edible is divided into the following groups:

  • Plant products. This includes vegetables, fruits, as well as cereals, nuts, various herbs, spices.
  • The provisions from animal sources are mammalian meat, poultry, fish and fish roe, various seafood, eggs and milk.
  • Other types of organic food (regardless of type of origin): mushrooms, yeast, sweet honey, etc.
  • Inorganic products, including salt and all kinds of food additives.
  • Food obtained through processing - canned goods, confectionery and bakery products, cheeses, juices and more.

State control

Certification of food products is carried out to confirm their compliance with the standards prescribed by the legislation of Russia. The certificate should be issued only for those types of provisions that are listed in the product line enshrined in Government Decree No. 982. Here, all edible units are grouped by individual OKP numbers (All-Russian Product Classifier). Then the certification of food products implied the implementation of their sanitary and epidemiological control. However, after the introduction of the Decision of the Commutsoyuz 299 / 28.05.2010 on a unified nomenclature of food subject to constant sanitary supervision, this document was abolished. Instead, other permissive papers regulating hygienic safety began to be used.

In order to issue certificates for food products, you need to certify state registration. This requirement has affected the following provisions groups:

  • products intended for children;
  • for sports nutrition;
  • food for pregnant women;
  • GMO products
  • dietary supplements;
  • organic products;
  • heterogeneous nutritional supplements.

In order to successfully confirm the sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic safety of other types of food, certification of food products implies the mandatory presence of the expert opinion of Rospotrebnadzor.

Creation of permits

Food certification takes place in several stages. First, an application for a certificate is filled out, the following documentation is collected:

  • constituent business papers;
  • registration certificate;
  • taxpayer number;
  • technical conditions ;
  • information about the manufacturer;
  • catalog of products manufactured by the enterprise;
  • product composition, information on production methods;
  • pre-existing certification documents;
  • State expert opinion of Rospotrebnadzor;
  • laboratory test report forms;
  • food samples.

After studying the documentation, the Certification Authority should send food samples for a special examination. Next, a special body checks the information provided. Based on the results of research, he makes a positive or negative decision.

Each document has an individual number. Its validity depends on the scheme for certification of food products. Basically, it ranges from one to three years. If the validity of the document exceeds one year, in this case, the issuing authority is obligated to conduct annual inspection of products.
