All people are different. And everyone’s fears are different too. Some of us are afraid of loneliness or dark rooms, others are afraid of the cemetery atmosphere, others are heights ... This list goes on and on. For example, I'm afraid to fly a plane. What should I do in this case? Go to the psychologist? Or forget about traveling once and for all?
Friends, since there are a lot of people suffering from aerophobia (or just shy), I decided to write an article about this. As the saying goes, let's face our own fears.
I'm afraid to fly a plane! What to do?
Any person experiences some discomfort when he first sits in the cabin. In principle, for the first time this is quite a common occurrence. However, if a person continues to be afraid again and again - this is already a deviation from the norm. If you ask a psychologist how to stop being afraid of flying, then, first of all, he will advise you to relax, take a look at the airplane window and admire the divine heavenly beauty. But these are all special psycho receptions. We, friends, understand this! After all, it’s unlikely that this will help a person whose arms begin to tremble and his heart pop out of his chest when he rises into the air! At the moment, most likely, he will not remember the recommendations of the psychologist, he just wants to scream, run away and hide away from this nightmare. Remember how the hero of one of the stories of Stephen King was afraid of flights. He just could not find a place! As a result, he brought himself simply to insanity: he began to see a hairy devil sitting on the wing of an airplane and disassembling his fuselage! In my opinion, this is just awful, and the blame for everything is aerophobia!
How does aerophobia manifest itself?
Background
Scientists say that the problem here is not so much in aerophobia as in a disease, but in fear, which causes the very feeling of flying, because this environment is not natural for a person. The fact is that our vestibular apparatus is very sensitive, therefore it reacts painfully to the lack of soil underfoot, and even accompanied by a change in height and speed. This already significant stress for the body is complemented by a fear of death. The person on the plane intensely (and in most cases - falsely) anticipates danger, because he understands that in the event of a plane crash he will be completely powerless and most likely will die.
Manifestations
- This disease can begin at any time (even before boarding), for example, as soon as you arrive at the airport.
- Just thinking about the upcoming flight of a person begins to embrace real horror and wild fear: hands and knees begin to shake , an irresistible desire arises to return the ticket to the ticket office, choosing an alternative method of transportation (train, bus).
- A person can slowly begin to go crazy. He will be feverish in a cold sweat. Hallucinations are not ruled out. In this case, you need a doctor.
I'm afraid to fly a plane ... What if I have aerophobia?
Forget about the TV!
Psychologists do not recommend impressive people to get involved in watching disaster films, television shows and news on similar topics. This has a detrimental effect on the emotional component of a person and on his desire to make a flight.
Fly and don't be afraid of heights!
Friends, personally, the first advice didn’t really help me. I am still afraid to fly a plane. What to do in this case? I tried to find the answer to my own question. It turns out that you urgently need to use the so-called flight simulator! This is a peculiar way of treating aerophobia. You will be placed in an interesting room, completely repeating the cabin of the aircraft. However, this is not free. If your finances are dear to you, then psychologists recommend self-medicating: arrange an airplane cabin at home in one of the rooms and spend some time there. Well, I'll try it at my leisure! Good luck to you!
