Russian hut. Interior and structure

From time immemorial, a wooden hut has been the residence of every ordinary Russian person. Such houses, built from wooden boards (or solid logs), began to be built during the existence of Kievan Rus. Until now, many connoisseurs of antiquity are building similar dwellings for themselves. Unlike stone architectural monuments, the most ancient huts have not survived to our days, however, as a good example, we got houses built in the 19th century. Looking at them, you can determine the life of that time, and the interior, and other features of the past life.

The shape of such buildings is extremely simple - a square or rectangle. This geometric accuracy is maintained inside the structure, even if it is divided into several different rooms. It is thanks to this architectural technique that a unique atmosphere of comfort and warmth is created, which only a Russian hut can boast of. The interior, as a rule, was plain. The dwelling consisted of several rooms, including a maid, canopy, crate and closet. In some huts, a basement, a porch and an attic were also built - it all depended on the wealth of the owner.

As a rule, you can immediately understand from the surrounding objects and their arrangement that this is precisely a Russian hut. The interior is distinguished by rigor, conciseness and minimalism. An indispensable attribute of the old hut were long benches that nailed to the walls or to the floor. Near them could be a long dining table. All household items, dishes and things were located on hanging shelves, which were nailed to the walls. In some houses there was a sideboard, but this is far from an obligatory detail, especially if the living area is small. Indeed, space is the main criterion by which the Russian hut should be characterized.

The interior of the old village houses was undoubtedly supplemented by a stove. It was located in the center of the living room, and around it were placed tables, shelves and hooks on which a poker, ladle, pots and pots with handles were hung. On the back of the stove, a cradle was often placed, to sleep in which it was warm, especially during the winter cold. This is exactly how Russian hut is represented in many of our tales.

The interior of peasant houses of past centuries was generously decorated with various accessories and paintings. As a rule, national ornaments painted the stove, tables and benches, shelves, dishes and window frames. Such drawings were based on images of the sun, rotifers and geometric patterns in red, yellow and black. Painted plates and pots were put on the shelves, and they became a worthy addition to the general ensemble.
