Higher Technical Education: Future Perspectives

Previously, technical education was very popular and was very prestigious. Many young people dreamed of becoming scientists, engineers, researchers. It would seem that in our century of rapid technological development, the trend should have continued, but due to the peculiarities of the historical period of the 90s, this popularity came to naught. This is due, first of all, to the fact that in those years, science did not receive adequate funding and fell into decay, and applicants had to choose more profitable specialties. At that time, the private sector of the economy was developing especially rapidly , as well as the legal services market, so most of the graduates rushed there. Now the situation is somewhat different, and technical specialties are finally beginning to enjoy well-deserved demand among applicants. Of course, in general, demand has increased for specialties in the field of information technology, but machine-building also has become somewhat more popular over the past few years compared to previous years. Traditionally, one of the most demanded faculties in technical universities has always been ACS and ASG, even in the worst years, for admission to them, it was most often required to score the highest score, and now the competitions there are generally prohibitive.

In connection with the rapid development of high technologies, many experts predict that in the next few years, the most popular specialties will be technical, not only related to information technology, but also engineering, as well as technological and engineering. Accordingly, vocational technical education should become very popular among applicants.

But are educational institutions ready for this? Will universities be able to provide technical education at the proper level in all demanded specialties? Not yet at the moment. This is due not only to inadequate funding of the educational sector, but also to the fact that at the moment higher education institutions feel a significant lack of competent teachers who own the subject at the appropriate level corresponding to the current moment, and it often turns out that brilliant graduates actually have knowledge God forbid, ten years ago. In addition, many professions in demand are not even on the list of many universities, for example, even the specialty "programmer" appeared in many educational institutions only a few years ago.

The task of providing technical education at a decent level should be a priority for the state, since its prestige in the world largely depends on how developed the countryโ€™s high technologies are. Certain steps are being taken in this direction, and the state is taking some measures to maintain science. Already now it is becoming prestigious to study it again, and, perhaps, in a few years, today's students will become wonderful teachers who possess modern knowledge and do not seek to go abroad with them. In addition, in production, due to the growing need for personnel with a technical education, their salaries are growing, and therefore technical specialties are becoming popular again. Already today it is much easier to get a well- paid job , having not an economic, but a technical education, because there are too many economists, and there are not enough people with technical specialties.

If this trend continues, and most likely it will, in the next few years we will see the rise of technical education. I would especially like to hope for state assistance in this area, because without it it will be very difficult to cope with the situation. Naturally, it is necessary to ensure adequate funding, as well as to reform the training of professionals in many universities in accordance with the current moment, and then the prospects seem very bright, especially since the social, economic and historical preconditions for this are obvious.
