Car brake pads can be considered consumables, since their resource of use is limited. The more often you press on the brakes, the closer the day when replacement of brake discs becomes inevitable. If this day has arrived, and for some reason you donβt have the opportunity to contact a service center, you can do the brake pad replacement procedure yourself. To do this, you will need a tool in the form of a set of head keys for 12, 14 and 16. And also an iron brush. So, how exactly is the brake disc replaced?
First of all, you need to prepare the car, for this with a head key
we relax the wheel bolts, put the jack under the car, raise the car and, twisting all the bolts, remove the wheel. We clean the suspension from adhering dirt with an iron brush. After the car is prepared, you can start dismantling. But before you start doing this, it is worth noting: it is much more convenient to replace the pads with the wheel pre-set correctly, which means that if the work takes place on the left wheel, you should unscrew the wheel to the right until it stops - and, conversely, when working on the right wheel . Having done this, disassemble the caliper. It is not difficult to disassemble the support, as it rests on just one bolt located at the very bottom. We unscrew this bolt and put it on a clean surface so as not to get dirty with sand. We lift the caliper and carefully remove the old pads.
We try not to damage the pad, because during installation - it will need to be returned to its place. There on the brake pads there is a tweeter (plate), necessary for that
to make a rattle sound when the block becomes unusable. We shoot it too, but you donβt need to be especially careful with it, because it will be replaced by a new one. Next comes the most difficult operation. This situation may arise: if you put new pads, the caliper will not be able to sit in place. Based on this, we press the piston of the cylinder inward. You need to press two pistons at the same time, otherwise, by pressing on one (which will go easily), the next one will be squeezed out. You can press with a wrench or a key, but more efficiently do it with your fingers. Sometimes it may be necessary to
bore the brake discs. After the pistons have drowned, we mount new pads, without forgetting to put the pad. Next, put the new tweeter in its old place and close the caliper. Before securing with a bolt, it is necessary to straighten and align the boot to prevent dust from entering the mount. Now screw the bolt in and tighten it tightly.
After the above replacement pads will be made on other brake discs, we put the wheels in place. That's all. And on this, the replacement of brake discs, not without reason, is considered safely completed. Do not delay with such a repair, since wear of the brake discs can lead to not very pleasant consequences. Replacing the brake discs in time will help prevent emergencies. With the timely technical inspection, it is not difficult to identify the malfunction. Only in this case, you can be completely sure - the trip will be safe.
