The word "caprice" literally means a whim, a spontaneous desire or some kind of eccentricity caused by personal imagination. The salad, which bears such a name, does not have a clear recipe, such as herring under a fur coat or Greek salad. It all depends on the whim and preference of the one who cooks this dish. Everyone can create a mixture of their favorite products in the most preferred combination, but always with their own unique “highlight”.
Let's try to make our own Caprice salad. But first, look at other options, perhaps someone's whim will coincide with your own.
Caprice Salad - Option One
A caprice in this recipe will be thinly sliced ham rolls threaded into onion rings (only the smallest onion rings are used).
Caprice salad is good to serve each guest on a separate plate. At the bottom of the plate, put some leaves of green salad and pour them with lemon juice. Then - sliced fresh cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, quarters of boiled eggs, ham rolls in onion rings, olives and thin slices of Cheddar cheese. Salt, pepper, ground pepper and pour over olive oil.
Your guests will appreciate your whim!
Caprice Salad - Option Two
Lay lettuce on the dish . Then cut into a long straw and mix the following components:
• chicken meat (200 g);
• ham (200 g);
• boiled tongue (200 g);
• boiled mushrooms (300 g), cut into quarters.
Make a dressing from a mixture of vegetable oil (50 g), vinegar (20 g), mustard (30 g), salt to taste. Put on a dish and pour salad dressing.
Mix salad, an original blend of delicious ingredients, can be a good alternative to this dish. Grate one raw carrot and one apple on a grater. Cut into medium slices beef (200 g), veal (200 g), two fresh cucumbers, slightly salted herring (about 100 g), three boiled potatoes, pickled mushrooms (a couple of spoons). Mix all products, add salt, sugar and ground pepper (all to taste). Transfer to a salad bowl, pour mayonnaise without stirring, and sprinkle with herbs and garnish with lemon slices.
Snake Salad
This dish simply leaves no one indifferent. Making it takes time and effort, but it's worth it.
How to prepare the basis for the salad?
• Mash the contents of cans (saury, pink salmon) with a fork.
• Potatoes boiled in their skins (3 pcs.), And grate two eggs and mix with fish.
• Grate processed cheese (3 pcs.), Add to the previous mixture.
• Squeeze a clove of garlic through a press into the salad, add a little salt and season with mayonnaise (there should not be too much mayonnaise so that the salad does not lose shape).
Salad mass of crushed products seasoned with mayonnaise is laid out on a large flat dish in the form of a curled snake. The tail is tapering towards the end, and the snake's head should be slightly thickened.
The snake looks very impressive among greens - parsley, green onion, lettuce, dill and basil. This greens should fill all the free space on the dish - then the snake will look in contrast.
The snake can curl up like a ring, but the zigzag shape looks better.
Now you can do direct salad dressing. To imitate the scales, very thin, almost transparent circles of canned cucumbers are often used. Choose smaller cucumbers so that the scales fit denser. But, before you start laying individual cucumber circles, decorate the back of the snake along the ridge with a strip of either yellow corn or sliced black olives (well, if they are stuffed with red pepper, it will be even more elegant), or both at the same time. Sometimes, instead of cucumbers, canned peas are used, stacking it tightly and slightly sunk into a salad.
For the head, leave some corn kernels and a few olives. Halves of olives are suitable for the eye, and make a frame for corn. From a green onion or from a slice of boiled carrot, you can make a forked snake tongue.
