The most common disease of the urinary system, of course, is cystitis, which is an inflammatory process of the bladder. Women suffer from this disease more often than men. But the most susceptible to this disease are women who are preparing to become mothers. Most of them, for certain reasons, develop cystitis during pregnancy. The proximity of the urinary organs and genitals in women explains the development of cystitis, and pregnancy provides the prerequisites for the rapid penetration of infection into the bladder. It aggravates the situation and a slightly reduced immunity of the pregnant woman, when the hormonal background changes due to the development of the fetus. Cystitis during pregnancy threatens not only the health of the expectant mother, but also the fetus that develops in the womb of a woman.
Causes
A disease such as cystitis occurs when bacteria enter the bladder, which, when they multiply intensely, lead to an inflammatory process in it.
Many bacteria could be in the woman’s body before pregnancy and not have a negative effect on him. But during pregnancy, when the female body protects the unborn child, the woman's defenses decrease, and the bacteria begin to show increased activity, becoming dangerous enemies.
The external route of infection is not excluded. For this purpose, expectant mothers must be tested for STDs in order to take the necessary measures before pregnancy.
The reasons for the development of such a formidable disease as cystitis during pregnancy can be insufficient, and sometimes, on the contrary, excessive hygiene, when there is a violation of the microflora of the vagina, which leads to dysbiosis, the development of candidiasis, the risk of developing cystitis increases sharply.
Symptoms
Cystitis during pregnancy is characterized by the following main symptoms:
- Rapid urination. When microbes enter the bladder, the female body wants to get rid of them, which manifests itself in frequent urge to urinate. A woman is often forced to get up at night in the toilet, and in some cases, urination appears every quarter of an hour.
- There may be so-called false urge to urinate when little urine is excreted or not excreted at all.
- There are pains, pain in the lower abdomen, burning sensation during urination.
- There may be a change in the color of urine: reddish urine indicates the presence of red blood cells in it, and with inflammation, protein and pus.
Treatment
Such an unpleasant disease as cystitis during pregnancy, the treatment of which is carried out only by a specialist, does not tolerate "amateur activity". Otherwise, you can harm not only yourself, but also the future baby. The doctor decides how to treat cystitis during pregnancy, in accordance with the results of the examination of the woman. The modern method of treatment is the method of instillation (infusion) of drugs, including antibiotics, directly into the bladder, which excludes their harmful effect on the woman’s body and the fetus.
Prevention
In the prevention of cystitis during pregnancy, the main role is played by such measures as:
- compliance with hygiene rules;
- the ability to empty the bladder in time, avoiding its overflow;
- prevention of hypothermia of the pelvic organs and lower extremities;
- diet and the exclusion of salty, fatty and spicy foods;
- drinking enough water.
A pregnant woman is recommended to avoid stressful situations, relax more often, and avoid physical exertion.
Do not be ill. Take care of yourself!
