Holy Trinity Ioninsky Monastery in Kiev

It is considered a fairly young shrine. The monastery was founded in the 19th century. Located on the territory of the famous National Botanical Garden named after N. N. Grishko of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The history of the monastery began even before the construction work. The future founder of the holy monastery, Jonah, the great ascetic of the Russian Church himself, Seraphim of Sarov, predetermined the fate of the temple organizer. In 1836, the Mother of God appeared three times to her father, who reported on the need to build a male monastery in the city of Kiev. Later, the Mother of God twice indicated the place where the monastery was bound to appear.

The construction of the monastery

Construction work began in 1866. Jonah was appointed chief. Holy Trinity Church was consecrated in 1871. Then there appeared workshops, solid stone cells and the refectory. In 1886, Jonah's father received the rank of archimandrite and became rector of the monastery.

Today at the monastery Sunday schools work. Here, students learn the basics of painting, Greek, choral singing and, of course, Holy Scripture. The monastery hosts courses for readers and a children's tourism club.

St. Nicholas Shargorod Monastery

The history of the shrine begins in the XVIII century. It is noteworthy that the monastery was not built in Shargorod itself, but in the nearby Kalinovka village. The Polish prince Stanislav Lubomirsky transferred him to the city, where a school was opened by his decree.

Since then, the monastery has undergone many changes. The school was replaced by a seminary, then a theological school was established. During the Soviet era, the monastery ceased its activity and was turned into a museum building. Later it was used as a warehouse.

The revival of the legendary monastery of Ukraine began in 1996. The central place in it is occupied by a copy of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which was given to him by the servants of the Holy Assumption Pochaev Lavra 19 years ago.

Shargorod Monastery

The ensemble includes a cathedral, two small churches, facades with majestic columns, towers, domes, bell towers and cells. Surprisingly, the wall painting is also preserved.

St. Panteleimon Convent

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Kiev diocese reinstated the position of vicar bishop, the first of which was rector Theophanes. Having received state lands for the construction of a country house, he began the construction of the church. Temple of the Miracle of St. Archangel Michael was built in 1803.

The church received the official status of a religious institution under other bishops. It happened in 1901. After another 13 years, St. Panteleimon Cathedral was built here. In 1915, the magnificent monastery became an independent monastery.

Archimandrite Seraphim was appointed rector of the monastery in the early 1990s. In the monastery are particles of the relics of the healer Panteleimon, the Monk Seraphim of Sarov and other saints, revered by Orthodox believers.

Holy Trinity Nemirovsky Stavropegial Convent

The holy monastery was founded in 1720 with funds provided by the governor I. Potocki. The monastery became women's only in 1783, after its reconstruction.

The peak of the development of the shrine falls on the lifetime of the rector Apollinaria. Then a large construction was launched. The Nikolaev and Assumption churches were restored, a new Holy Trinity Church was built, several bell towers, a hotel, a refectory, a hostel and cells were installed.

A school was opened at the monastery. In 1860, the diocesan school for girls began its work here. The monastery was closed in Soviet times. Some of the structures were dismantled, in the remaining rooms there was an orphanage and an automobile enterprise.

The famous convent of Ukraine was restored in 1996. Now on its territory there is a boarding school where children with mental pathologies are studying.

Holy Trinity Monastery
