St. Petersburg University of Water Communications is one of the oldest higher educational institutions of the city. It trains high-class specialists in the field of shipbuilding, technical support, etc.

This university is one of the oldest in St. Petersburg. It was opened in fulfillment of the Manifesto of Emperor Alexander I in 1809. Now it consists of ten branches in such cities as Arkhangelsk, Ufa, Petrozavodsk, Rybinsk, Veliky Ustyug, Murmansk, Pechora, Voronezh, Moscow, Kotlas. Dormitories
State University of Water Communications Makarova provides all nonresident students the opportunity to live in one of the university's student dormitories. There are four of them. All hostels of the university are located near its main building.
The first building is located at: st. Alexandra Bloka, building 10. This is a five-story building, accessed from the university by bus number 22. The second hostel is located at 5 Stachek Square, it can be reached by minibus number 66. The third hostel of the university is located at: street Marines, house 6/2. All of them are more or less removed from the university. In the immediate vicinity of it is only the fourth hostel (Mezhevy Canal, house 6).
The cost of living in a hostel for students studying on a budgetary basis is 670 rubles per month. This is a fairly small amount by the standards of the northern capital. For students studying on a fee basis, the cost of living is 1340 rubles. The hostel is also provided to university staff. For them, the cost is slightly higher - a little more than 2000 rubles.
Applicants who come to St. Petersburg from other cities can also use the services of a student hostel. The cost of living for them is 600 rubles per day. Applicants must notify the admissions committee in advance of their desire to settle in the hostel.
In addition, the university offers students accommodation in hostels and hotels located near the educational building.
Students on a budgetary basis receive uniforms, as well as three meals a day. Those who receive training for money (under a contract) do not have such benefits, they have to pay extra for uniforms and three meals a day (if desired).
