Unfinished higher education. Features, pros and cons

Incomplete higher education has become widespread in Russia. So what is this concept? What does it mean?

In fact, an incomplete higher education is 3-4 years that a student has studied at a university or institute. That is, the former student has the knowledge that they give in the first three years of study, but there is no diploma. However, such an education is not listed in every company. In some enterprises, an incomplete higher education is not even considered as a plus to the candidate’s resume.

The spread of this type of education is primarily associated with elementary psychology. Often, by the third year of university, the initial euphoria from changing schools to institutes ends. The student is increasingly thinking about whether he has chosen the right profession. Also, do not forget that in the third or fourth year of university, a student is 19-20 years old. It was at this time that a serious crisis of 20 years occurred, which is characterized by an irresistible desire to change the situation.

Also, girls often drop out in their third or fourth year due to marriage or pregnancy. Not every girl manages to combine motherhood and education.

Do not forget about the elementary desire to work and earn. This desire manifests itself especially rapidly in a person by the age of 20. Giving maximum time to work, the student forgets about elementary attention to learning. Thus, the indicator of academic performance and attendance is reduced. A student either leaves the university on his own or is expelled. And in that, and in another case, the student has the right to indicate in any questionnaires and resumes that he has an incomplete higher education.

After finding out the reasons, you can begin to find out the pros and cons of incomplete higher education. Let's start with the pros.

Some employers pay attention to the availability of such education for a candidate for a position. Incomplete higher education is a guarantee of basic knowledge. It is important to consider that almost every employer asks the question of why the higher education was not received.

Also, the presence of incomplete higher education is a small plus for the resume. Such an education makes a candidate for a vacancy a head start in comparison with applicants who have not studied at a university.

However, the disadvantages of unfinished higher education should be taken into account.

Firstly, the minus is that a graduate always has a large supply of knowledge and skills than a person with an incomplete higher education. This is understood by employers. Simply put, being a specialist is better than a person with an incomplete higher education.

Also keep in mind that incomplete higher education is not documented. Moreover, such an education is far from every employer. Many teachers are skeptical of the unfinished higher. They say that education, like any other process, should be complete, full-fledged. Otherwise, the competence of a specialist cannot be guaranteed.

In the Soviet Union, such a practice was not at all common. Specialists were considered only those who received a full and complete education. Such specialists had a diploma.

Incomplete higher education gained distribution in Russia only from the late 90s, when there was a shortage of specialists. Due to the deficit, even such job seekers were quoted. However, in modern Russia there is no such shortage of personnel, therefore, incomplete higher education often becomes not an advantage of a candidate for a position, but, on the contrary, one of the drawbacks.
