The origins

The ancestor of the Academy of the Air Force in Voronezh is considered to be the Military Airdrome Technical School. It was founded in Stalingrad by decision of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces at the end of 1948. However, the beginning of his activity was laid in 1950.

In 1954, VATU was relocated to the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov Region. In 1963, it was decided to rename this institution. However, after a few months, the university was relocated again.

History of the Voronezh Higher Military Aviation Engineering School

At the end of 1963, the Michurinsky VATU moved to its modern-based site. In 1975, it was decided to increase its status and the school was transformed into the Voronezh Higher Military Aviation Engineering School (VVAIU). In this regard, the duration of training was increased to 4 years. In order to prevent interruptions in providing the Air Force with necessary specialists, as an exception, as a result of these transformations, in 1975 a simultaneous enrollment of applicants was carried out with both secondary technical and higher education. The first group of cadets was to join the ranks of professional officers after 3 years, and the second after 4.

The first graduation of officers with diplomas of higher specialized education in Voronezh took place in 1979. To increase the level of training of graduates, in the future, training programs were extended to 5 years.

In the period from 1979 to 1989, a lot of work was done in the field of development of scientific activity at the All-Russian Higher Aviation Institute, which made it possible to open an adjuncture.

In the 90s, a branch located in Borisoglebsk functioned at the Voronezh School. It was created on the basis of the local “flight” VVU named after Valery Chkalov.

Voronezh Air Force Academy appeared as a result of the merger of several educational institutions.

In 1998, WWAIU was transformed into the Military Aviation Engineering Institute. After 8 years, the Voronezh Military Institute of Radio Electronics was attached to it.

In 2007, the university received state accreditation. At the same time, it was decided to concentrate in Voronezh VAIU the training of military specialists of all types of ground support for air flights: engineering and airfield, engineering and aviation, aerodrome, technical, radio, meteorological and aviation communications.

As a result of large-scale transformations, the WWAIU operating in Irkutsk, Stavropol and Tambov were attached to Voronezh University . After the issuance of the relevant order to Voronezh, all of their personnel were redeployed.

In 2010, the Voronezh All-Russian Higher Aviation Institute was joined by the State Scientific Research Institute of Radiation Safety. In addition, by order of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, he was transferred the functions of training officers of the operational-tactical level of the Air Force Academy. professors N. Composition and structure

Voronezh Air Force Academy (Air Force Center) prepares personnel for 26 military and 18 civilian specialties. Currently, 445 candidates of sciences and 59 doctors, about six dozen professors and 215 associate professors are working at the university.

The structure of the Air Force Academy of Voronezh includes:

Branches of the Air Force Academy in Voronezh

Air Force Research Center has 2 branches. These are military training and scientific centers located in Syzran and Chelyabinsk. The first of them currently has 10 departments, in which, along with Russian cadets, military specialists from Armenia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Guinea, Mali, Kyrgyzstan, China, the Republic of Chad, Vietnam, Sudan Burundi, Angola, Mongolia, Djibouti, Sri are trained -Lanki, Laos, Libya and Nicaragua. The Syzran Military Institute was founded shortly before the start of the Second World War, and was originally based in Saratov. In the most difficult years, he carried out accelerated training of gliders for the front. In the period 1979-1989, 12 university graduates became Heroes of the Soviet Union for feats accomplished in the skies of Afghanistan, and 19 pilots who graduated from the Syzran Military Institute received gold stars participating in operations of the Chechen war.

Personnel training

The term of study in any of the specialties of vocational education is 22 months, and higher education - 5 years.

Those who graduated from the academy in programs of the first type are awarded the title “Ensign” and a diploma of secondary vocational education is issued.

The remaining graduates receive the military rank of “lieutenant”.

Along with a military specialty, university cadets master a civilian specialty and guaranteed employment in their military specialty.
