Looking through the news about affairs in Ukraine, people often stumble upon the names of its past presidents. One of them, Leonid Danilovich Kuchma, is now actively influencing events. This person is scolded as often as praised. It can be evaluated in any way, but one cannot but recognize the crucial role of Mr. Kuchma in the development of Ukrainian statehood. His life path was not easy, the same, unfortunately, remains to this day.
Kuchma's biography
In the remote village of Chaykino, which is located in the Chernihiv region, in August (9) 1938 a boy was born who was destined for a great fate. He was raised by his mother. Leni's father, like many of his fellow villagers, went to fight. At home they did not hear about him anymore. Only many years later, Kuchma Leonid Danilovich, already a respectable party leader, learned that dad had died in the hospital back in 44. Life was poor and complicated. But Leonid was not discouraged. Everyone interrupted from bread to water. And they were lucky. Since there were no men in the family, the collective farm chairman, a lonely woman, invited them to her house. A few years later she left, and the “mansions” remained to Kuchmam. They still managed to take the corner to teachers. In the village there was only a seven-year plan. But Lenya dreamed of education. He was attracted to teaching activities. I had to run to a neighboring village at the age of ten, after which he entered the physics and technology department of Dnepropetrovsk University. Learning was difficult for Lena. But it turned out that he has excellent organizational skills. And people were reaching for him. It was recognized that their leader is a student debtor Kuchma. Leonid Danilovich engaged in active Komsomol activities.
Career
After graduate training, Kuchma was assigned to the design bureau. He was supposed to design rockets. By the way, Leonid Danilovich is still proud of this. The design bureau was called Southern. His projects were implemented in a huge, now dying enterprise. It was one of the main in the USSR. It's about Yuzhmash. Kuchma Leonid Danilovich worked here continuously for thirty-two years. Doros, as they say, to the CEO. Comrades characterize him as a supercommunicative person. He quickly found a common language with anyone, knew how to compromise, smooth out sharp corners. This talent helped create himself. Many of his former acquaintances unanimously say that he was not visible at the factory, but in organizing events he was an indispensable person. For a career, in those days it was not necessary.
Family is a step to the top
There are people who receive a lot from life. And do not slander about this. Leonid met his future wife by accident. Together they ended up on a collective farm. Then it was decided to assist the sponsored households in harvesting. Brigades were sent mainly from youth enterprises. Lyudmila (Kuchma subsequently) then bore the name of Tumanov. Her father after a while received a serious post in Moscow. In fact, he led the entire Yuzhny complex (design bureaus and factories). Leonid received a serious promotion. In 1981, he left for party work. The position was also promising. Leonid Danilovich is elected secretary of the party committee. It was already a level. Then he again returns to design work as the first deputy head of Yuzhmash.
Political career
The USSR was falling apart. It was in 1990 that people in such serious positions were well aware. Should have thought about the future. Leonid Danilovich decided to go to the deputies. And so it happened. He, the leader of Yuzhmash, was supported by the people. In this position, he survived the collapse of the Union, the declaration of independence. And in 1992, then-President Leonid Kravchuk invited him to head the executive branch. It was a great chance for further growth. Leonid Danilovich agreed. And only two years later, he successfully ran for the main post in the country. Kuchma was President of Ukraine until 2004. This is a special time. Surely citizens recall him as the most prosperous. As they say, after Kuchma, earlier contradictions escaped into society. In fact, Ukraine turned out to be split, as shown by the 2004 elections, which, contrary to the Constitution, were held in three rounds. The fundamental law defines only two.
Difficult political struggle
It’s very difficult to engage in big politics, albeit on the scale of one state. Especially when this happens in a country torn by contradictions. Leonid Danilovich had to go through a lot. He criticized everyone and sundry. They said that the children of Kuchma were plundering the country, that he himself had acquired innumerable wealth. All his actions and deeds were invariably surrounded by incredible gossip. In fact, Leonid Danilovich has a daughter, Elena. Now she is married to a successful entrepreneur Viktor Pinchuk. They have three children. The youngest daughter Veronica was born in 2011. Kuchma's son-in-law is indeed a very wealthy man. The sphere of his interests, he himself recognizes culture. Pinchuk assures him that he is interested in taking an active part in the construction of the state. But he prefers to do this through public organizations.
Current activities of the former president
As any head of state admits, one cannot resign completely. After all, the country is like a child. Give her a soul to her. And it’s scary to watch what is happening with Ukraine now. Leonid Danilovich from the very first moment of the crisis of 2013-2014 joined in the work. He negotiated, organized meetings, developed his own recipes for peaceful solutions. Kuchma takes part in the Minsk format. There, his experience is very useful. Indeed, in Minsk they are trying to find a way to end the war. But this is a complicated matter. We have to take into account the mutually exclusive views of the two parts of the Ukrainian people. The talents of Leonid Danilovich, who could agree with anyone, came in handy. There are no former politicians at all. There are connections, invaluable experience, methods and solution templates are being developed. All this must be conveyed to the followers. And about gossip Leonid Danilovich is not worried. He himself says that the peaceful life of people is most valuable to him. And in order to lead the country out of a terrible conflict, he is ready for a lot. And to tolerate gossip is nonsense, in comparison with what else has to be done. Leonid Danilovich - the last president of Ukraine, recognized by both parts of society. Consequently, his authority in resolving the conflict is indispensable.
