After the death of his father (and he was Roman proconsul), the emperor, who ruled at that time, took him to the service. Dmitry's task was to defend the city, as well as to eradicate Christianity. The emperor did not even suspect that he had appointed a secret Christian to the service. After the appointment, Dmitry began to openly preach Christianity, converting many people to faith.
Of course, the emperor found out about this. Dmitry Solunsky, a saint and a martyr, was thrown into prison. There he prayed and fasted for a long time. Ultimately, on the twenty-sixth of October 306, he suffered a martyrdom, not renouncing his faith. The ring soaked in his blood, for a long time healed the sick sick.

The relics of Dmitry Solunsky. Gaining and History
The relics of the saint were acquired one hundred years after his death. At the place of his burial began to cost a new, more magnificent temple. So his imperishable relics were found. Subsequently, many miracles happened from them, they also singled out the world.
The relics of Dmitry Solunsky were first in a silver civorium, and after a fire that happened in the 17th century, they were moved to a marble tomb. Their further fate is foggy. According to various opinions, either at the end of the 12th century, or at the beginning of the 13th century, they were taken to Italy. Where they were until 1520 is unknown. But after they were discovered in San Lorenzo in Campo, there they remained until the 20th century. They havenโt returned to Thessaloniki completely; now six particles are in Italy.
Miracles that happened with the relics and the name of the saint
The relics of Dmitry Solunsky and his name have a long โwonderfulโ story. Immediately upon their acquisition, they began to be myrrh-streaming (by the way, today the myrrh-streaming has stopped, although at that time it was very plentiful). After he zealously took care of his hometown. When an attack on him occurred, he defended Thessaloniki on a white horse, dressed in dazzling white robes, and also shining with fire. All this made the army of attackers flee in fear.
Once two girls from Thessaloniki were captured. They managed to escape only by the intercession of St. Dmitry. Having embroidered his face on the canvas on the orders of the barbarian king, they prayed to the saint all night for help. The next morning the girls woke up, miraculously finding themselves in their own home.
The saint many times saved the worshipers from diseases (from the plague, from stomach bleeding, from obsession). All who asked for intercession always received according to their faith.
Saint Dmitry provided assistance not only to his compatriots, but also to the Slavs who turned to him for help. Obviously, it was not by chance that he became so revered on our earth.
