At the Mobile World Congress 2015, the Finnish organization Nokia presented the first tablet with the Android operating system - Nokia N1. The gadget at first glance seems quite curious. But in order to evaluate its work in full, it is necessary to conduct a detailed review of this technical novelty.
Equipment
Our acquaintance must begin with packaging. The first thing you can see is a neat black box. She copes with the functions assigned to her. Opening it, you will immediately see the Nokia N1 tablet. Looking ahead, we can say: he is handsome! Together with it, the manufacturer supplies a network adapter and a USB cable. The latter is made according to a new model and belongs to the standard Type C type. And, of course, each buyer will find instructions in the box. It is worth noting that the information in it is stated quite clearly, so itβs not difficult to deal with the functions.
Design Nokia N1
A review of the tablet needs to start with the external design. Of course, we will not deviate from generally accepted rules. The design of the gadget is very similar to the model iPad Mini. However, you cannot blame the company for plagiarism, since the device has individual characteristics and is equipped in accordance with the latest technologies.
So, here are a few characteristics:
- The case is made of anodized aluminum, however, plus or minus is difficult to solve, since the panels are easily dirty.
- 7.9-inch screen with 4: 3 edge aspect ratio and 2560 x 1536 resolution, 324 pixel frequency.
- The power button is located on top, which is quite convenient.
- The screen is protected from above by Gorilla Glass 3. There are no complaints about the screen, it conveys a good picture, colors, without distorting them even when the display is turned around.
- The anterior chamber is 5 Mrp, the main one is 8 Mr.
- An event sensor is located above the screen.
- Standard (3.5 mm) microphone and headphone jack.
You can see that the manufacturer did everything possible to improve his device. For example, in order to remove the gadget from the lock mode, you do not need to constantly reach for the corresponding button. This was made possible because the Nokia N1 device provides for double-finger unlocking. However, there is one important point: it is impossible to set the lock on the tablet in the same way.
Benefits of the new gadget
The stereo speakers are located below, next to the USB connector. This is very convenient, since the connector can be connected with an arbitrary input. The Nokia N1 is the debut gadget with the Android system.
Since the edges of the tablet are rounded in shape, it lays quite nicely in the palm of your hand both horizontally and vertically. Therefore, the gadget is comfortable to use for watching videos, while working in applications and entering games.
Performance
The basis of the device is a quad-core Intel Z3580 processor, rated at 64 bits. It provides fast information processing, as it has a frequency of 2.3 GHz. Power VR G6430 is an application responsible for graphic performance. Also, the gadget has 2 GB of operational memory. This package is quite good even for complex programs, applications and games. The device proved to be quite good during everyday use. Note, with vigorous use, the Nokia N1 is very hot on the right side, and this is noticeable.
Let's talk about cameras
The main camera has a solution of 8 MPx, there is no flash, but there is autofocus. With its help, you can make good shots according to the criteria that are adopted for tablets. The front camera is slightly worse, has a solution of 5 Mr. For video calls and selfies, itβs enough.
Functionality
Functioning Nokia N1 on Android 5.0.2 Lolliopop. This is a fundamentally new operating system, its feature is the proprietary ZLauncher shell.
What are its advantages? We single out the main ones:
- immediately displays the clock and a list of programs that were not so long ago in use;
- easy swipe to the right - and the screen displays a complete list of installed applications in alphabetical order, which is very convenient.
Having depicted the first letter of the program name on the screen with your fingertip, you will immediately see the entire available list. You can resort to this method of search when using the Internet. This makes working with the gadget quite comfortable and easy.
But it was not without flaws. These include the lack of a slot for a memory card (it will be necessary to cost 32 GB of RAM), as well as the presence of only one way to connect to the Internet - Wi-Fi (there is no 3G version). Such nuances may upset some users.
Battery
Nokia N1 has a non-removable battery with a capacity of 5300 mAh. This means that the device will function for a whole day without recharging. However, it must be borne in mind that working with "heavy" programs, applications and games will reduce the time by almost five times, that is, the device will work for only 4β5 hours.
