Settlement and graphic work: recommendations for implementation

Getting a good higher education is not so easy with us. To do this, you will need to not only attend lectures, seminars and workshops, but also perform various independent tasks, such as essays or term papers. In this article I want to talk about what is the calculation and graphic work.

About the concept

First of all, you need to understand the concept itself. Often, for the first time having heard the abbreviation RGR, a student is confused. But there is nothing to worry about, so abbreviated as settlement and graphic work. This is an independent work of the student, designed to more fully assimilate the material he has studied in a particular subject. It is worth saying that the RGR can be part of the term paper, that is, its practical component. The essence of this type of work is the provision of not only theoretical, but also practical material. So, the RGR will necessarily contain certain calculations, possibly graphs, tables, diagrams.

What should be?

What are the important elements of the RGR?

  1. Justification of the selected topic. This is a theoretical component, where the student should talk about the importance of the work done by him.
  2. Characteristics of the object and subject of research.
  3. Conducting basic calculations.
  4. Providing the results in a convenient form: tables, graphs, charts.
  5. Conclusions and, possibly, recommendations.

Structure

Settlement and graphic work should have its own structure. It is not possible to submit material for consideration in any form. So, the RGR should consist of the following items:

  1. Table of contents. Here the student submits information about all sections of his work.
  2. The task. At this stage, you must completely “voice” the assignment given to the student.
  3. Initial data. The student provides all the existing source data that may be needed for the calculations.
  4. The following are sections that will contain practical solutions and analysis of the results.
  5. Providing calculation results in the most convenient way for perception.
  6. Findings.
  7. Bibliography.
  8. Applications (if any).

Highlights

There is also a list of special requirements that a student must observe if a graphic design work is being prepared.

  1. The number of pages may vary depending on the topic and the requirements that the department provides. However, it will always be at least 10 pages of printed text or 15 pages of handwritten text (today most often this is no longer practiced). The upper limit of the number of pages is not indicated. The student only needs to fully reveal the theoretical part of the work and to conduct and provide all the calculations as correctly as possible.

    theoretical mechanics

  2. Pages of the work should be numbered as in the abstract. Each chapter should begin with a new sheet. The indentation on the page is standard (most often it is 2.5-3 cm on the left and one and a half centimeters on the other sides).
  3. Font - Times New Roman, 14. If the work is not provided in printed form, but, for example, in electronic form, there are no such requirements.
  4. Title page. RGR must have a title page, which indicates the topic under study, as well as the name of the student, his group. Other items on request.

Design tables, figures

Economics, statistics, theoretical mechanics ... Settlement and graphic work can be done in almost any subject where there are calculations (regardless of the specialty of student learning). However, it is worth remembering that it is necessary not only to correctly format the text itself, but also to provide all the tables, figures and diagrams.

  1. All illustrations are indicated by the word “Figure” or briefly “Figure.” This inscription is placed under the illustration.
  2. Each image also needs to be numbered. If this is just a single digit, then this is the serial number of the figure. If the numbering is double, then its first part will be the number of the section where it is located, the second is the serial number of illustrations in this section. In this case, for each section, the numbering of illustrations begins with 1 (unit).
  3. All figures in the text should be referenced.
  4. All illustrative material is numbered in Arabic numerals.
  5. It is possible that the table will be split (if a row or column goes beyond the sheet).

    computer graphic design work

  6. All illustrative material can be located both in the work itself, in the text, and in a single part of the work, which is called the “Appendix”.
  7. If you need to submit a formula for consideration, you need to use the symbols proposed by the state standard for this.
  8. In the formulas, each character must be explained (this is done directly under the formula, the explanation of each individual character begins with a separate line).

Informatics

What can a graphic design work in computer science look like? So, it’s worth saying that there are no certain limits. It all depends on the level of the material taught at the university for a given specialty. So, for humanities, the RGR in computer science will be one, for programmers - completely different. It can be just a demonstration of PC skills (for example, in Word or Excel), or it can be programming, using different number systems to work, making all kinds of translations between different number systems, etc.

BZD

On the course "Life Safety", some universities also offer students to perform RGR. And again I want to say that the work in different specialties will differ from each other. Indeed, each profession has its own precautions, its own requirements. Settlement and graphic work on the Belarusian Railways - what can be studied or investigated here? So, you can calculate the most comfortable working conditions for a group of workers, you can plan the placement of jobs in the workshop or at the enterprise, you can analyze industrial injuries , etc. In fact, there are a huge number of topics to consider.

Other items

It is worth mentioning that in almost any subject a computational and graphic work can be written: in economics, electronics, logistics, theoretical mechanics, etc. However, the goal of this work will always remain the same: to teach the student not only to correctly carry out the necessary calculations, but also to be able to correctly present them for consideration.
