Safety of technological processes and production is the direction of training bachelors of technical universities in Russia and abroad. The specialty appeared not so long ago: before, any specialist with a technical background could become an engineer of this profile.
When did the specialty arise?
In a separate direction of student training, labor protection and production processes grew in 1994. By order of the Ministry of Health of Social Development of Russia, amendments were made to the Qualification Handbook. Specialists occupying occupational safety engineers should now have the appropriate level of training - at least a bachelor's degree.
At first, the specialty was very rare. Over time, it has spread to most technical universities in Russia and now includes many narrowly specialized areas of training.
Specializations
During the introduction of the specialty, there were only two training profiles: "Safety of technological processes and production" and "Technosphere safety". Educated engineers could get into any field that needs technosphere protection, regardless of the highly specialized field.
Currently, specializations are united in the specialty "Technosphere Security". Each university has several areas of engineering training. Undergraduate provides for the training of students in the specialties:
- safety;
- fire safety of technological processes, industries;
- environmental Protection;
- technosphere protection during emergency;
- process safety;
- safety in the technosphere.
The first 2-3 courses of the curriculum almost completely coincide, highly specialized subjects appear in 3-4 years of study.
Curriculum Characterization
The profile "Safety of technological processes and production" is the direction of training engineers - specialists with higher technical education. The curriculum provides for the study of the necessary general technical, highly specialized, as well as humanitarian disciplines, which in a complex should fully prepare the student for highly qualified work.
The humanitarian cycle may include history, philosophy, foreign languages, psychology and pedagogy, economic sciences. General technical disciplines usually consist of physics, general chemistry, engineering graphics, higher mathematics, computer science and ecology. For specialists associated with life safety, from the first year in the curriculum add the discipline of human physiology.
Around the middle of the entire training course, specialized subjects directly related to future qualifications are offered for study. These include: life safety, combustion theory, hydrodynamics, technological risk, electronics and electrical engineering and many other disciplines related to technical processes and the results of their impact on humans.
Scientific and practical work
Many technical universities offer students to participate in scientific conferences, olympiads. On the basis of large institutes, scientific centers have been opened that allow you to visually solve real problems under the guidance of established engineers. The scientific work of undergraduate students is optional, but encouraged and encouraged.
Practice is a mandatory stage in the training of any profession. Typically, the curriculum involves several types of practice:
- non-productive;
- production;
- design and technological;
- undergraduate.
Each of the types of practical skills training based on theoretical knowledge lasts at least 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of practice. This is a key moment in the educational process. Some universities offer students much more hours of practical work on the basis of scientific centers. Most often, work is paid extra, which undoubtedly attracts students.
Characteristics of practical training of students
The curriculum of each of the training areas contains requirements for practical hours. Non- manufacturing and manufacturing practice is also conducted for students of the specialty "Safety of technological processes and production". Training and obtaining the necessary theoretical knowledge base is designed for the academic year, after which students go to practice.
Non-productive practice involves passing classes at the department of profile. This is the initial stage that usually awaits students who have completed the first course. Manufacturing practice is usually 4 weeks, and takes place at the enterprise.
Design-technological and undergraduate practice involves a complete familiarization with production processes in reality and the transfer of theory to practical skills. The student partially fulfills his future duties as an engineer under the instruction of the head.
How to proceed?
In the prescribed manner it is necessary to pass the exam in mathematics, physics and the Russian language. A core subject is physics. Victories in state olympiads give applicants an advantage in admission. For graduates of past years, internal entrance tests in the same subjects are provided.
After successfully passing the exams and submitting documents, applicants who have passed the threshold score are enrolled in the ranks of students. Soon after entering the university, it will be necessary to choose a profile ("Safety of technological processes and production", "Labor protection", "Fire safety", etc.), on which training will take place. After graduation, universities invite capable students to participate in master's programs, which involve the implementation of extensive scientific work.
"Safety of technological processes and production" - who should work after the diploma?
An engineer who has received such an education is in demand in the labor market; moreover, it is not limited to only the service industry. A specialist can get a job at any industrial enterprise, state labor protection organizations and supervisory services.
On average, enterprises in the city need 30โ40 specialists per year, which clearly indicates the relevance of specialization. Every year, organizations are increasingly paying attention to industrial safety, which puts the engineers of the profile "Safety of technological processes and production" among the most popular. In addition, the specialty involves the implementation of mainly analytical work.
Job responsibilities
The engineer of the profile "Safety of technological processes and production" has a number of responsible duties. An instruction regulating the work of an employee of technosphere safety is developed separately by each enterprise.
The list of duties may include:
- analysis of possible technospheric incidents and methods for their prevention;
- study of the impact of external factors and natural phenomena on technosphere objects;
- performance of research work and processing of results;
- search for high-risk objects;
- preparation of projects and design documents of developed devices;
- development of rescue methods in case of emergency;
- training workers in industrial safety measures;
- consultation and preparation of safety instructions;
- conducting an expert examination of the facilityโs safety, monitoring and supervising the state of protective equipment.
"Safety of technological processes and production" is a specialty that implies the constant analysis and development of new methods to reduce the number of undesirable incidents. Industrial safety is the basis of the quality activity of industrial enterprises, ensuring the efficient operation of both personnel and equipment.
