Today's technologies for the production and processing of building and finishing materials provide an opportunity for everyone to do any repair work in their apartment without the help of specialists and, accordingly, without unnecessary financial costs. Due to the lack of ideas about the theory of one or another installation activity, practice becomes something unimaginable. In fact, this is not entirely true, and the manual described below on how to make a ceiling from drywall with your own hands proves this.
Training
Before proceeding with installation work, it is necessary to prepare all the materials and tools that you may need during the repair. You definitely need a set consisting of a hammer drill, screwdriver, metal scissors, a construction knife, a level (preferably a laser), a brush, a roller, a special plane and a spatula. You should also purchase materials such as drywall itself, building profiles (made of metal, guides PN 28/27 and ceiling PP 60/27), direct suspension, single-level connector profiles PP 60/27, self-tapping screws, deep penetration primer , putty, serpentine tape, sandpaper, or instead of it is possible to use a synthetic masking net .
Having prepared all of the above, you become one step closer to the question of how to make a drywall ceiling yourself, but this does not mean that you are ready to work.
Markup
This stage of work requires a large share of responsibility and care. You should start by looking for the lowest angle in the room, so measure all angles from the ceiling to the floor. Having found such an angle, determine the future outline of the ceiling in it - lower the height that is needed for your ceiling space from top to bottom. The size depends on the pipes and air ducts, as well as on your desire to hide various elements of the apartment’s communication, however this space must be at least 5 cm. Using the laser level, see where the future drywall construction will be located.
Next, we mark on the ceiling in order to attach the suspensions. Along the room, lay a sheet of drywall measuring 120 by 300 cm, and then install the PP profiles in the same way. The distance between the profiles determines the width of the sheet (for example, you can set them with an interval of 60 cm). Next, measured dimensions are drawn on the ceiling - you will install suspensions on the resulting lines.
Frame construction
On the perimeter of the contour, on the walls, with the help of self-tapping screws, profiles of PN are placed. Observe the distance between the fasteners, approximately equal to 40-50 cm. Now it is the turn of the suspensions: they should be strengthened with the same screws to the ceiling according to the marking. The distance between the fasteners is also equal to 40 to 50 cm. The fixture of the ceiling profiles is based on the fact that they should be cut, made 5 mm shorter compared to the length of the room, as this will contribute to a more convenient installation of the guide. PP is inserted into the PN, fasteners are made using self-tapping screws.
Note: PP sags, although it must be horizontal. The simplest solution to this problem is the tension of 5-6 threads between longitudinal PN. These threads will need to align the profiles and attach them to the suspensions. Use a level to make sure the profiles are horizontal. The protruding parts are either cut or bent to the ceiling.
To complete the installation of the frame, give it rigidity. To do this, cut sections of 60 cm in size from PP, lay them across the room after 50-60 cm and attach them to the ceiling profiles with single-level connectors. You must adhere to such rules in the case when you will do the crate on two-level ceilings from drywall.
Installation and fixture of sheets
To successfully complete the work at this stage, attract third parties to repair (you alone can’t even cope with lifting a sheet). So, lift and lay the drywall sheet on the frame. To fix it, use self-tapping screws of the “TB” or “TN” brand, check the distance from the edge of the sheet to the fasteners (it should be equal to 1.5 to 2 cm), and also between the self-tapping screws (from 10 to 15 cm). The fastener hat needs to enter the sheet by 0.5 mm.
In case the sheets do not fit, you will have to fit in size. To do this, apply a marking on the sheet with the required dimensions, cut the layer along the resulting lines, lay any profile under the sheet and break it in the place of the cut. Then you simply cut off the bottom layer and process the edge with a planer.
Stitching
Calculate the putty per 1 m2, apply it evenly and, until it dries, have time to pave the seperate ribbon at the seams. After a while, plaster these places again, wait until everything is thoroughly dry, and you can proceed to the primer of your ceiling. If there is a need to putty on the ceiling upon completion of work, simply level it.
This completes the instructions on how to make a ceiling of drywall with your own hands . As you can see, there is nothing super complicated in this process, everything can be learned and everything can be overcome, because the main thing in modern repair is to know the theory.
