Moscow International House of Music is the largest cultural center, a multifunctional philharmonic complex created with the goal of developing performing art in modern Russia. The opening ceremony was held in 2002, December 26th. Present at the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin called MMDM "a magnificent crystal goblet."
A bit of history
The House of Music, an international masterpiece of modern architecture, immediately attracted the attention of the world music community. Previously, stars performed at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and the Moscow Conservatory, however, these two venues did not satisfy the requests of the Moscow public.
In 2000, the Red Hills JSC was created, which was led by the famous theater figure Mikhail Shatrov. He managed to attract foreign investment, and construction began. So the long-awaited Moscow House of Music appeared. The complex was granted international status after concluding agreements with leading performers of the opera stage, ballet art and famous chamber orchestras. The program of performances was drawn up a year in advance.
The House of Music, an international complex of world significance, is located on the banks of the Moskva River. One of the most beautiful embankments of Zamoskvorechye has become a worthy setting for a masterpiece of modern architecture. The Moscow International House of Music organically blended into the surrounding landscape and today is an adornment of the Russian capital. Architectural buildings of the Red Hills ensemble were scattered around the complex. Address of the House of Music: Kosmodamianskaya embankment, 52, building 8.
Architecture
The capital of Russia, a megalopolis of world scale, is the keeper of unique masterpieces of ancient architecture. However, recently, buildings that are not inferior in their architectural value to buildings from the distant past have been increasingly being built. One such example was the Moscow International House of Music. Moscow received a truly grandiose gift from the builders - a building that can argue in its majesty with the Peter Cathedral in the Vatican.
Ten floors, built in the style of the latest Art Nouveau made of glass and durable composite structures, rely on a three-tier stylobate. Two more floors go underground, to a six-meter depth. The height of the House of Music is over 46 meters, and the total area of ββthe complex exceeds 40 thousand square meters. m
The architectural project was developed in the construction company "TTA" ("Association of Theater Architects"). It was originally planned to place two halls with a capacity of 1800 and 600 seats in the MMMD. Then another concert hall with 524 seats was added. Also, a specialized store, a salon of branded musical instruments, an Allegro restaurant, an exhibition hall "The history of music of the whole world" with exhibits were added to the construction plan. Thus, the final project was created - the House of Music, an international, world-wide philharmonic complex.
The well-known conductor and violinist, permanent leader of Moscow Virtuosi Spivakov Vladimir became the president of MMMM.
Attribute
The domed top of the Hemisphere-shaped Music House is decorated with a ten-meter treble clef framed by laurel leaves covered with gold leaf. The symbol of musical art rotates on a vertical axis, like a weather vane. The complex support system for heavy construction includes a giant roller bearing, securely mounted in the concrete frame of the dome top.
Complex structure
The Moscow House of Music consists of three concert halls: Svetlanovsky, Theater and Chamber, each of them is built on a separate project.
Svetlanovsky Hall
The extensive concert venue is named after the great musician and conductor Yevgeny Svetlanov, who made an invaluable contribution to Russian musical culture. The composer's work can be traced back to 1954, when he began performing as a conductor at the Bolshoi Theater, and until his death in 2002.
The layout of the Svetlanov Hall of the International House of Music has a rational layout, its capacity is 1699 seats. The hall is designed for performances by symphony orchestras, competitions and festivals. The walls and interior details are lined with Siberian larch, the best acoustic material that nature has created.
The scheme of the Svetlanov Hall of the International House of Music, coupled with the acoustic parameters developed by the specialists of the Institute of Building Physics, gives an unrivaled effect. During the concert, the most delicate shades of the sound of instruments are heard.
After the famous Carnegie Hall, the International House of Music (the layout of the hall named after Yevgeny Svetlanov is presented in the article) is considered the most successful in terms of acoustic characteristics. The location of the seats contributes to optimal sound. In the middle of the hall there is a stalls, then there are rows of amphitheater, and tiered balconies are located above. It is characteristic that the balcony rows cover the stage almost circularly. Thus, the musicians are available for viewing from all sides. The array of spectator seats of the amphitheater and balconies is divided into two parts: left and right. The boxes of the Svetlanov Hall are small, with five to seven seats.
Currently, Carnegie Hall does not host symphonic concerts, only jazz ensembles enter the stage. And classical musicians who previously played in Manhattan are now trying to perform in Moscow.
Organ in the Svetlanov Hall
The Moscow International House of Music, whose concert venue layout allows you to place several stationary instruments, acquired a large organ manufactured by the German company Glatter-Gotz. The design includes 6,000 pipes of wood and tin, divided into 84 registers. The largest pipe has a length of 12 meters, it is made of a single piece of condo spruce, the same grade from which the masters Amati and Guarneri made their violins.
The instrument has already been played by all the most famous organists of the world, while leaving a lot of rave reviews in the guest book.
International House of Music, chamber hall
In the basement, right under the Svetlanov Hall, there is another concert hall. This is a relatively small chamber hall with only 556 seats. The interior is designed in the style of Art Nouveau, with dominant red-green tones. The flooring in the chamber hall is dark green, the walls are decorated with green marble, the wood trim is dark burgundy. The overall impression of the interior color combinations is somewhat gloomy, but since the music that sounds in the walls of the chamber hall is mostly minor, the harmony is felt in the design.
Theater Hall
The room is equipped with armchair and stage transformation systems, which allows multi-purpose use. For a theatrical production or a performance, the scene expands due to the retractable first five rows. The hall is also used for fashion shows, small themed concerts and social events.
The colors that dominate the theater are violet colors combined with dark gray and brown. The lobby in front of the entrance is decorated with a rich decorative panel of natural wood.
Equipment
Due to high technical support, the Moscow House of Music is in constant readiness for the implementation of the most complex projects, synthetic performances that combine various types of art. An example is the performance of the Russian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with the New Opera choir. The public was presented the cantata "Carmina Burana" with a video projection of paintings of the Renaissance.
