VAZ-2114 heating system: description, features and malfunctions

The car uses many systems and mechanisms. One of them is the interior heating system. VAZ-2114 is also equipped with it. Unlike air conditioning, cars are equipped with a stove without fail. Indeed, in the heat, you can open the windows. But in winter, to cope with the cold in the cabin without a stove will not work. What is this element? How is the VAZ-2114 heating system arranged? Characteristic and device

The main purpose of this system is to maintain the optimum temperature in the cabin during the winter season. In addition to comfort, the stove is needed so that the windows do not sweat, especially the windshield. To prevent condensation on it, special nozzles are provided in the upper part of the panel. However, first things first. Below will be a diagram of the interior heating system :

It is the same for all models of the Lada Samara family, including the VAZ-2114. So, the following elements are included in the system device (decryption of the circuit):

How does it work

The principle of the system is quite simple. It is based on the transfer of heat from a liquid. So, the radiator of the stove is connected to the main terminals of the engine cooling system. Inside the heat exchanger is antifreeze, or antifreeze. So, when the engine is heated, hot liquid enters a "large" circle on the radiator of the stove. When you turn on the SAUO (control unit), the stove motor is activated . Warm air begins to move through the nozzles. The direction may be different - on the windshield, side, in the center of the cabin. One or more deflectors are activated, depending on the position of the lever of the stove.

That is, heat exchange occurs - hot antifreeze is cooled not only in the main radiator (which stands in front of the engine and is shown in the photo below), but also in the heat exchanger of the heating system.

Of course, the engine temperature drops significantly. Therefore, in severe frosts, motorists close the cavity of the honeycomb of the main radiator so that the engine is not very cold. The most optimal mode of its operation is 80-90 degrees Celsius. When you turn on the stove, this indicator drops immediately by 10-15 percent. However, we will not focus on the principle of operation and consider the main malfunctions of the VAZ-2114 heating system.

Unable to adjust temperature

Often, owners of domestic cars (including VAZ-2114) are faced with the inability to set the air temperature on the control unit. The stove blows equally hot or cold, regardless of the position of the main SAUO lever (in the photo below it is located in the center).

In this case, specialists report a malfunction of the shutters or malfunctions in the operation of the control unit itself. They also diagnose a temperature sensor. It is located next to the ceiling light control. Twist the lever position several times. Air heating should change tactilely. If the temperature changes only at the extreme position of the sensor, the element must be replaced.

The stove is blowing cold

Dampers and temperature regulators fail extremely rarely. Therefore, if the stove blows cold all the time, most likely, the gearmotor has failed. This item is shown in the photo below.

How is the VAZ-2114 heating system being repaired in this case? Injector or carburetor it does not matter. Due to the complex design, the gearmotor changes entirely. To do this, you need to completely disassemble the "frill" of the front panel. Then, using a Phillips screwdriver, three self-tapping screws on the stove block are unscrewed, the wires are pulled out and the old gear motor is removed. The new one is connected in the same way. Check how the VAZ-2114 interior heating system works. The air should change its temperature when the lever on the block goes from cold to hot mode and vice versa.

The stove does not blow well in the legs and side windows

The heating system VAZ-2114 is not reliable. Over time, the stove ceases to normally heat the legs and side windows. Moreover, the trouble is not in the air temperature (on the contrary, it can be hot), but in the strength of the flow with which it comes from the nozzles. In this case, you will have to modify the air flow channels. For this, the front panel is removed so that there is access to the nozzles.

Next, a new corrugated hose is installed (just plastic pipes come from the factory here). Additionally, we process joints at the Splen thermal insulation material. All gaps between the upper and lower parts of the panel are also pasted over with it. Next, you need to modify the damper of the stove, which directs the flow to the desired zone. Often it is badly pressed against the body. Because of this, a large percentage of hot air is simply lost in the panel and "walks" in the cracks. So, we remove the damper and remove the old factory seal yellow. We close up all the cracks with modelin. Instead of a sponge we glue Bitoplast. It is advisable to apply it in several layers.

Lower nozzles

Next, we upgrade the air ducts for the legs. When parsing the panel, you will see that there is a large gap between the nozzles. We close it with a corrugated tube. We take out the regular air distributor outside, and in our place we also install the corrugation.

The diameter should be 4 centimeters. Thus, the air will be clearly directed to the legs, without leaks. As for blowing the windshield, it is being finalized similarly. Additionally, the owners fill in the extra cavities with foam, in order to eliminate the creak of the panel during movement (this problem has haunted Samara since the first generation). Judging by the reviews, this method works.
