A simple recipe for Peterhof salad

Why is this dish so named - one culinary god knows! But it is undoubted that the Peterhof salad is named after the architectural structure of the same name, literally translated from German as “Peter's yard”. Perhaps the emperor of All Russia himself used it for dinner as an excellent snack for strong alcohol (and Peter the Great was not a fool to drink). But in any case, Petergof salad is prepared quickly and easily, has a spicy authentic taste, and is well suited for a festive feast and for everyday meals - as it can be whipped up. In general, let’s and we will try. Let's hope that the food will be liked and will become a permanent item on the family menu.

This dish proves to all of us that a tasty and original dish can be obtained from a minimum of products - the main thing is to know little secrets! To prepare it, you need to take the following: one medium chicken breast (with a bone, or you can already cooked fillet), one large pod of red bell pepper (sweet and meaty), one head of onion, Korean carrot (about 200 grams), a little mayonnaise for dressing Peterhof salad, a little greens (to decorate the finished). That, in fact, is all, friends!

Simple cooking!

  1. Boil chicken breast. By the way, for that matter, try to buy not a frozen part of the carcass, but a fresh, chilled one - the dish will turn out tastier. Cook over low heat, adding a bit of salt (you can, in principle, salt and already boiled).
  2. In the meantime, cook, prepare the remaining ingredients.
  3. We clean the beam and cut in half rings. Then, to remove excessive bitterness, pour it with boiling water in a plate. Let stand for a couple of minutes and throw it in a colander.
  4. Wash the pepper and remove the seeds with the stalk. Then - cut into strips.
  5. Well, the breast is boiled. Let cool (the broth can be used to prepare first courses - it will not be useful for salad). We cut into cubes (if there is a bone - first remove).
  6. In the salad bowl we put the straws into strips and the onions in half rings, add the Korean carrots (if it is too juicy - strain the excess moisture!), Chicken breast cubes.
  7. We season with mayonnaise (if you take a store one, then high-quality, for example, Provencal) and mix thoroughly.
  8. Advice: in order not to turn out “porridge-like”, you don’t need to introduce a lot of mayonnaise, and decant all the “extra” water.
  9. We decorate the Peterhof salad with pre-chopped herbs (you can take dill, parsley, a little cilantro) and serve.

With smoked breast

As an option, it is very affordable, since smoked meats can now be bought at any supermarket or in a specialized store. Peterhof salad (see photo above) with smoked chicken breast is prepared in the same way as in the above recipe, in the sense of the steps taken. Only instead of boiled we use the smoked part of the carcass. A very pungent flavor appears. This is for those who like to experiment.

DIY mayonnaise

Today, some housewives are not inclined to trust store- bought mayonnaise sauces. Indeed, in their composition and fillers, and preservatives, and stabilizers. With sour cream

Instead of mayonnaise (for those who are afraid of fat, because this product contains a huge amount of oil), you can use as an option not too liquid sour cream. Everything is simple: we replace mayonnaise with sour cream in the recipe above, and voila: almost dietary salad for your attention!

Korean carrots at home

And you can get even more confused: prepare this ingredient with your own hands, believe me, this is not at all complicated. By the way, a special grater is very useful - for carrots. We take it the most ordinary, store. My, clean, three. Add a small spoonful of salt and sugar, a couple of spoons of vinegar (apple coffe is perfect), vegetable oil (olive, linseed - most useful), a pinch of hot pepper (but you can also buy special seasoning). Tip: so that the salad ingredient is thoroughly soaked and acquires an authentic familiar taste, you need to let the carrot marinade soak. Mix everything and put down the refrigerator overnight in a sealed container. After that - you can use it.
