- warming up the engine, write down the readings of this device, comparing them with technical standards. The similarity of indications indicates the health of this device;
- disconnect the vacuum hose. If the pressure in the fuel system has not increased, then it is necessary to increase the vacuum in the pressure regulator. To do this, just connect the vacuum pump. Otherwise, replace the fuel pressure regulator ;
- if the fuel pressure does not meet the technical requirements, it will probably be necessary to replace the regulator, fuel filter or fuel pump.
How to replace the fuel pump?If the fuel pump fails, it must be dismantled. To do this:
Put the car on the handbrake.
Disconnect wires from battery.
Depending on where the tank access cover is located, the rear seat or the trunk lining should be removed.
Disconnect the hoses of the fuel wires and the power connector of the gasoline pump.
Remove bolts.
Remove the cover that covers the openings for servicing the fuel unit. Make sure that no debris enters the gas tank.
Unscrew the nut securing the power terminal of the gasoline pump.
Remove the fuel pump.
Replace filter coarse mesh.
Replace fuel filter.
Collect all removed parts.
It should also be noted that the replacement of the fuel pump must take place in compliance with safety precautions. Please note that the fuel in the engine may be under pressure. After the new fuel pump and other elements of this system have been replaced, you can start the car engine using a starter. Only after such a scroll will fuel appear in the system, and the engine can be started in the usual way.
Another important nuance during the operation of the fuel pump is the presence of fuel in the system. Experts recommend controlling the level of this fluid. The limit indicator may be a red mark. If the presence of fuel is below this mark, then the probability of failure of the fuel pump increases several times.
